Snowlegend La Grave - attention/warning

Snowlegend La Grave - attention/warning This is a warning for people considering doing business with Snowlegend in La Grave. Avoid Snow Legend and specifically their workshop.

I have twice had them mount bindning on skis and they failed. First time they didn't follow the instructions printed on the ski and used the wrong type of/sized screws, the second time they mounted the bindnings 7 mm asymmetric.

This is another failed mounting that Snowlegend performed for a pair of FKS bought from Didi (Haase Andre / Andre Raoul Haase / SNOWLEGEND). Again the skis are ruined and Didi refuses to take any responsibility, which is ironic since he wrote this about Goode (the skis in the previous post) "GOODE NO 'service après vente' ?" - well, it looks like this complaint applies to Snowlegend too.

It is hard to take photos showing the problem but I will explain and hopefully it will be clear what to look for in the pictures. The photos shows the hole drilled for the heel part and two cards placed perpendicular to the skis (the front of the skis is to the left). One of the cards is just next to the rear holes for the heel part, the other next to the last line of the boot center "illustration". The cards are placed in the exact same location on both skis.

As you can see the holes are not at the same distance from the illustration, they differ approximately 7 mm. Didi didn't (of course) tell me about this failed mounting when I picked up the skis so I didn't notice until I bought new boots with a different sole length and tried to adjust the bindings. On one of the skis (A) adjusting was fine, on the other (B) it was impossible.

Now I need to move the heel part of B but it is impossible to do that in a symmetric way due to the crappy mounting of Snowlegend. The bindning on A can't be moved to the same spot as the binding on B needs to be mounted because the new holes for A will be too close to the current holes = make both the holes and the whole ski weak and fragile.

In other words, these skis are ruined, at least if you expect them to be symmetric (yes, that is a reasonable expectation).

How is it even possible to fail like that? I can understand a tolerance of 1 mm, or maybe even 2 mm, but 3 times as much? Did he take drugs before he started drilling?

Interestingly enough, Didi thinks that I should have discovered this problem immediately when I picked up the skis. In other words, he basically says that customers shouldn't trust his craftsmanship and that they need to double check all his work. Does it sound like a place you want to spend your money at?

I have suggested several solutions but Snowlegend/Didi have refused all ideas, and they also refused to come up with any suggestions themselves.

This is the second ski. Both (!) bindings were ripped out during very moderate load (skiing in the middle of Vallons) on the first day of skiing on them after they where mounted with a pair of FKS180 bought from Snow Legend.

Of course, French as he is, Didi didn't take any responsibility for ruining these skis (bought from the US for more that $1000 - a substantial amount of money down the drain).

This is the result of a binding mounting made by Snow Legend. This is the first ski.
