Futaleufú isn’t exactly on the way to anywhere—and that’s part of the magic. Find the easiest routes, best airports, border crossings, and local travel tips to help you reach one of Patagonia’s most spectacular destinations.

✈️ The fastest route: Fly to Esquel (Argentina) and cross the border. If you’re short on time, this is usually the easiest option.

⛴️ The scenic Chilean routes: Travel through Patagonia’s fjords by ferry or along the legendary Ruta Bimodal, crossing remote forests, volcanoes, and breathtaking landscapes.

🛩️ The quickest route within Chile: Take a small plane from Puerto Montt to Chaitén and enjoy incredible aerial views of Patagonia.

🚐 Final stretch: From Chaitén, it’s about 3 hours to Futaleufú through native forests, mountains, and the stunning Lago Yelcho.
