Team Stannard at the Mount.
Friday practice went well with Bruce and Ashley out in the newcomers session so Ashley could get reacquainted with the course after a few years away, it was also a chance to get a few extra laps in, the first proper session went well and soon the team was getting to grips with the circuit and the lap times started heading in the right direction, it had also become apparent that every team was gonna be competitive and with similar lap times. After two productive practice sessions the team was ready for qualifying, with 11 on the grid it was important to get halfway up the order, after two sessions Team Stannard managed to qualify 6th with a time in the low 2-mins 06’s which was the fastest the team had been around there, so really happy,
After Saturday morning warm up the team was ready for race 1,
After a race long battle with Mike Russell and Karl Schofield the team finished a creditable 5th lapping in the low 2-05’s
Race Two saw true Hero’s racing team change there gearing and pulling away , we managed a good 5th place and still lapping in the low 2-05’s Sunday morning we woke to 30-35mph winds , after a consultation with the officials it was decided that the racing would go a head , race 3 we lined up along side Mike Russell and Karl Schofield and waited for the red lights to change , Mike and Karl , jumped started and that gave us an advantage , we raced hard and finished a few seconds behind , but with the ten seconds penalty we swapped places and finished 4th ! At a speed of low 2-04, our fastest ever.
Race 4 .....Gold cup race....we started on grid 5 , had a cracking start and was 3rd into first corner. We waited in anticipation for the onslaught behind us to start nipping at our heals , lap 2 still in 3rd, then lap 4 etc , it then became apparent that to bring it home safe was the option , so a strong 3rd place finish was achieved!!
All in all an amazing result , the team was awarded 3rd overall which was a totally unexpected 👍👍
I’d like to take this opportunity to thank all the teams for safe, close racing and fantastic competitive lap times , which can only be better for the future ,
We would also like to thank Sue Stannard for her continued support and all at Team SSR, for the small repair required to allow us to continue , also all the Oliver'Mount team and Marshall’s for running a superb event , roll on 2021

When you get Dean Harrison 🏍️to help sort out your clutch, then his dad, Conrad, tells you different 🤷🤣🤣

Team Stannard had an awesome weekend at Donington Park , this time with Karl Schofield as Passenger,
Saturday was a learning curve for both, after not riding together for over a year, the team jelled quickly, qualifying went well posting 16th position out off a grid of 33! 7th F2,
Race one was a real close race , teams swapping places for the whole duration , mammoth battle finishing 11th overall , 6th F2
Race 2 was nearly a disaster before we got going. Simon Hortons clutch went on the line and we nearly collected the rear but managed to avoid by inches , this left us down the field so a fight back was needed , we managed to finish 17th , 8th F2
Sunday was another dry day , Bike was prepared and ready to go , new Sidecar tyre fitted , ( thank you Sue Stannard ) Race 3 we finished 12th , 8th F2
Race 4 , we had a good start , and was going well , on lap 3 we was involved in a massive scrap with 3-4 others and unfortunately a passenger slipped out on the exit from Redgate and avoiding action was needed , I locked my wheels and to avoid the passenger , which we did but then on had a small vibration from the front , think I’d put a flat spot on the tyre , the race was red flagged , thankfully with no injuries , the restart was as manic as all the races. Frantic swapping and changing , awesome to ride, unfortunately for us a misfire on the last but one lap caused us to pull into pit lane, so that was our weekend run. Thankyou to Sue Stannard for your support , without we wouldn’t turn a wheel this year, Karl for being as good as ever, Sophie for being there ,
See you all next week at Scarborough, Bruce

A great weekend racing, placed in A group and proud to say some great results playing with the big boys and their toys
