Milestone day 🥳🌈

12 months to the day since I snapped my patella tendon playing football 🙄 and was told I’d not work / do sports for at least 12 months 😟 The thought of not maintaining my job and my daily HIIT workouts was so hard to come to terms with.

From the 6 days in hospital, excruciatingly painful post-surgery recuperation 🤢, hours and hours of medical appointments / physio & muscle rehabilitation, modified workouts (with many tears shed sat on the gym floor), daily sessions with my GameReady machine… to this day……. I needed a ‘milestone challenge’…….

So this morning I took on another 1000 burpee challenge (which I did during the first lockdown in 2020, when I was fit and injury free!)

Today I took almost 8 minutes off my original time, smashing 1000 burpees in 49m35s 💪🏼🥳 Mentally and physically grueling - just like the last 12 months 🤪

I’m so happy to have come this far, grateful for so much and owe a big thank you to everyone who’s supported me.

The power of a positive attitude must never be underestimated.

6 months on from my snapped patella tendon….

I’m working SO hard on regaining control and strength in my leg, which is slow and painful. Dedication and perseverance have played a huge part of each day over these past months. My muscle still lacks 6.5cm of muscle mass (compared to my other leg) and is unable to maintain control, so often gives out on me 😔I’m slow, working out differently, but finding new ways to get my heart rate up and maintaining some level of fitness.

I’m being followed now by a Swiss Olympic Sports Physician 😳who is confident that I will regain movement control and the strength needed to return to all the things I love, including my awesome job which I miss so much.

I’m so grateful for the care here, for the support I have had from incredible friends / family and for those special ones who’ve helped me through my most challenging days.

FIITCLUB WILL BE BACK!

3.5 months on from my horrendous snapped patella tendon injury and I’m still 100% focused on building my strength and getting back to my awesome job and personal fitness levels. Daily physio, eating healthily and staying positive. I’m 2 months ‘in advance’ of usual recovery for this injury and am so grateful for having incredible health care and having been in good shape (both mentally and physically) when it happened, as it’s massively aided my recovery. It’s proof that you shouldn’t wait til something ‘happens’ to get yourself in good shape…

It’s reminded me to be grateful for what I’ve got, not unhappy about what I haven’t got.

6 weeks post complete Patella-Tendon rupture. Progress is super slow (to be expected) but steady. This is how much my workouts have changed! Still finding it a daily struggle to not be able to get vomit-inducing cardio (which I love) but focusing on positive visualisation and recovery.

When my physio said I could start using the exercise bike I was SO excited... I had no idea I would not even be able to make one full rotation of the pedals 😓 I’m working on it. Slowly.

Everything that challenges us is just another opportunity to become stronger, taller and happier - it’s all part of the journey. These past two weeks have been as much of a mental battle as a physical one. I lost my ability to do everything I love in an instant, 2.5 weeks ago.... doing something so simple. Soooo many amazing friends and my family have carried me through these past couple of weeks. Progress has been so slow, sometimes appearing non existent. I have sat on my gym floor and shed many frustrated, addiction-stripped tears. I have barely slept with pain and discomfort. I have questioned whether all I have worked for will be lost. I have felt like such a burden. But drowning all that out, I have had countless messages, videos, calls, metaphorical trips up mountains 😘, food drop offs, visits, words of strength and encouragement and soooo much kindness. So many people believe in me and see my strength. I’m so grateful.

Today I saw my surgeon, to remove my staples and evaluate my progress. He was super happy with how I’m recovering and has made me feel on top of the world. Angie Gorr Willis - the Game Ready is doing wonders 🙏🏼 Eternally grateful.

I’m SO close to being able to restart my FIITCLUB and I can’t wait! I’ll be sitting, it will be a long time before I’m walking freely and smashing the burpees, but I’ll be back to kick your butts REAL soon 💪🏼💪🏼 I hope you’re ready for me....

It has taken me a few days to pluck up the courage to come back onto my FIITCLUB site, since the horrible injury I sustained (doing NOTHING remotely strenuous) on Friday. It is hard to come to terms with what happened and how long I will be in recovery, without the addictive pleasure of hardcore workouts.

Having snapped my patella tendon clean off my knee cap, dislocating my patella, I had emergency surgery and I have started my long recovery. Who knows how long it will be before I can squat jump or burpee again 😔 but one thing is for sure... FIITCLUB will be back kicking your butt soon! (Even if I cannot equally kick my own). More news to follow but in the meantime - keep those muscles alive... I will be back to get you sweaty very soon!!!!!
