Live the life you truly want to live” is the introductory phrase on my website.

Living the life you truly want to live takes . And for some, it is not always possible due to circumstances beyond their , financial or personal constraints.

But if you do have a choice and you have been feeling unhappy, it may be worth taking a step back and re-evaluating your — something I explore with every client.

This is not a cliché exercise. It is something you can revisit at different stages of your life, because your values can evolve over time.

Understanding your values today can help explain why you may feel restless, dissatisfied in your job, or uncomfortable in your work environment. It also helps clarify what truly matters to you, what drives you, and where you want to go next.

That is why I support my clients in reviewing their values and identifying their before assessing their . Skills can always be developed — especially when they are aligned with what matters most to you.

And if you do not have the freedom to fully live the life you want, you can at least, as one of my clients put it, define your non-negotiables.

We often know exactly what we need to do to reach our . We are organised, we have a plan, and we understand our and . And yet… we don’t move. We procrastinate.

Procrastination means putting off what needs to be done to progress tasks until the last minute; despite knowing it will cause later.

According to the The School of Life, procrastination might find its causes in our childhood. There must once have been some sense of danger associated with getting things done. Perhaps accomplishment was seen as showing off; perhaps there was a competitive sibling ready to attack any signs of excellence. Maybe an anxious parent panicked by the slightest sign of failure.

There are many other reasons why we procrastinate, such as:
• Fear of stepping outside our comfort zone and failing
• Fear of uncertainty
• Choosing immediate rewards over long-term ones
• Depression
• Low self-confidence
• Lack of motivation

In my work with clients, we start with acknowledging procrastination and identifying its cause. We then spend time understanding before creating a plan to tackle it.

▶️ Make a to-do list with clear deadlines.
▶️ Break down the items on your list into small, manageable steps so that your tasks don’t seem too overwhelming and you can have some quick successes to keep you motivated.
▶️ Pay attention to any thoughts of procrastination and do your best to resist the urge. If you begin to procrastinate, force yourself to spend a few minutes working on your task.
▶️ Eliminate distraction: Ask yourself what pulls your attention away and turn off those sources of distraction.
▶️ Congratulate yourself when you finish an item on your to-do list on time, and reward yourself by indulging in something you find fun.

Procrastination is not about being lazy. It’s about understanding your fears and thoughts, and learning how to work with them and not against.

As we reach , it is common to feel a sense of restlessness — a kind of itchy feeling that something needs to shift. Perhaps we have been in the same role for years, but it does no longer align with what matters most to us. Our priorities have evolved, and so have our .

Many people I work with express a growing desire to be more . They are no longer fulfilled by repeating the same routines and want to tap into their creative . They crave more time for meaningful pursuits — playing an instrument, painting, writing, starting a new project, or even exploring a completely new career path.

Creativity is being able to uncover and explore new ideas, connections, and solutions. It is a deeply human drive that builds , joy, and personal . ✅ A safe, non-judgmental space.
✅ Deep listening and presence.
✅ Empowering questions and forward momentum.
✅ Tools for reflection, resilience, and realignment.

What are the benefits of doing a assessment?

A good skills assessment should cover

✅ What you have done - your experience
✅ How you did it and what you have learned - your expertise
✅ Who you have become - what makes you YOU.

A proper skills assessment takes time. It goes far beyond making a list of skills which often look similar to those of others with the same professional background. Instead, it encourages deep on the unique qualities and character traits that make you stand out from your peers.

A well-conducted skills assessment allows you to
➡️ Take a step back to evaluate your unique set of competencies and strengths.
➡️ Speak about yourself with clarity and .
➡️ Identify areas for further development and
➡️ Defining your personal mission and future professional
➡️ Draft an outstanding CV and LinkedIn profile that truly reflect who you are

I integrate skills assessment in my career coaching sessions as it is ultimately a powerful tool for professional growth, helping my clients to make informed and confident decisions about their next steps.

When values lead the way

Last week, I had an insightful conversation with a client who wants to change his job. He is a senior communication expert who genuinely loves his work: diving into a topic, doing the research, organising information, and crafting a compelling story to raise awareness and educate the targeted audience.

But lately, he has lost his . Why? Not because of the salary or the organisation’s mission — both of which he appreciates — but because he no longer has the that once made his work . Senior management now controls the messaging, leaving little room for creativity or professional judgment.

Motivation is not always driven by a good salary, titles, or reputation, it is deeply connected to our . To what truly matters to us. When our work no longer aligns with those values, even the best job can start to feel empty.

That is why, in my coaching, discussions about and personal run like a red thread through every session — especially when clients are unhappy or considering a career change. Understanding what drives you, what sustains you in challenging times, and what you ultimately want to achieve gives you a compass for decisions and direction.

Last Saturday,  I had the immense honour of meeting Dr. Abuelaish after the screening of the movie based on his book “I Shall Not Hate”, published in 2010. The story is inspired by the tragic loss of his three daughters and niece following the shelling of his home by the Israeli government in 2009.

He is one of the most inspiring people I have ever met.

He is a five time Nobel Peace Prize nominee and internationally recognised human rights and inspirational peace activist, often referred to as the “Gaza Doctor” in the media. Now devoted to advancing health and education for girls in the Middle East.

He is a living example of resilience — someone who has turned unimaginable personal tragedy into something positive.

We all go through very difficult life’s transitions, fortunately most of us do not have to experience what he had to go through. His story reminded me not only of my responsibility to stand up for and
but also of what true means — and which qualities we must cultivate to develop it.

Resilient people often have a number of different characteristics including
A survivor mentality – focusing on and rather than victimhood Effective emotional – managing feelings of sadness, anger, and frustration A sense of – understanding what can and cannot be changed, and focusing on the impact one can make Problem-solving skills – facing challenges with creativity and persistence Self-compassion – treating oneself with and
Social support – building a strong network of people to lean on in difficult times

Resilience is an essential life skill, and my mission as a coach is to help my clients strengthen and develop it.

Last week, I organised my very first session of my group coaching workshop “Know your strengths and use them to achieve your goals.”

Knowing what gives you — what energises you, makes you thrive, and allows you to feel — is vital, especially during times of transition.

Your strengths help you to:
✅ Face life’s challenges,
✅ Work toward your goals, and
✅ Feel more fulfilled both personally and professionally.

One of the essential ingredients you need in transition is , which draws on strengths such as , , , and .

➡️ You need bravery to face the challenges ahead.
➡️ You need honesty with yourself and others to take accountability and responsibility for your actions.
➡️ You need perseverance to keep going.

But what about zest?
At first, the word might make you think of grated lemon or orange peel — something that gives your dish an extra ! In psychology, zest does exactly that for life.

According to the VIA Institute, zest means approaching life with excitement and energy. It’s about seeing life as an adventure, feeling positive, and being genuinely excited to get up in the morning.

Some people are naturally energetic, while others need to cultivate it intentionally.

So, how can you build zest?

✅ Set clear intentions for your day.
✅ Plan one pleasurable activity daily — and truly savour it.
✅ Celebrate your wins.
✅ Try something new to add spice to your routine.
✅ Surround yourself with people who radiate zest and bring positive energy.
✅ And finally — don’t take yourself too seriously!

I am a big fan of Maya Angelou, who was a renowned and writer. Her quotes resonate deeply with me and I love her book ‘I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings’, a testament to resilience.

“Do the best you can until you know better. Then when you know better, do better”, refers to the fact we are all capable of learning.

We can learn of our mistakes and do better next time.

We can educate ourselves before we engage in challenging conversations.

We can cultivate and learn to regulate our so we communicate more effectively.

We can explore our options and resources, and understand our and before we decide on a next career move.

Do you need help in knowing better? I can help you to take a step back and know better so you can move in the right direction.

Do you also want to keep your stress under control after coming back from a relaxing break?

Coming back from holidays often gives us a sense of being and , and ready to start fresh. To keep that feeling, it is helpful to focus on what we can control, and protect it with clear .

We cannot control other people’s moods, mistakes, or decisions, the past choices we made nor politics or global affairs.

We can control
✅ Our mindset and thoughts
✅ Our actions and behaviours
✅ The way we communicate
✅ The way we protect our wellbeing through boundaries

Boundaries are the rules and guidelines we set to protect our energy, wellbeing, and . They also teach others how to treat us. There are 4 types of boundaries you can apply in different ways;

1) Emotional boundaries - Respect and honour your feelings and energy. Acknowledge your feelings Pause before engaging in difficult conversations Tell colleagues how you want to receive feedback Do not not engage with people who drain your energy

2) Physical boundaries - Protect your physical personal space Honour physical needs such as rest and movement Step outside for fresh air and breaks Communicate your needs for a private work space

3) Mental Boundaries - Safeguard your mental health Take time off to recharge Limit exposure to gossip, drama, or negativity

4) Time Boundaries - Protect how you want to spend your time and prioritise Communicate your availability and ask support if needed Decline unnecessary meetings or requests Prioritise what aligns with your goals and wellbeing.

By staying aware of where your energy goes, setting boundaries, and protecting your circle of control, you create space to maintain work life balance and success in both your and life.
