Daniel Goleman, psychologist and author of the book Emotional Intelligence points out six leadership styles where is one of them. Even though his research showed that coaching has a significantly positive impact on performance and culture it is the leadership style which is used the least because, “leaders don’t feel that they have time to invest in the slower process of helping others grow”. 😧

I think most managers can relate to that. Once I was even told when I was managing people in the corporate world that “coaching is nice but you spend too much time talking with your team”. 🙄

Coaching is not “nice” or done for pleasure, it’s ☝🏻☝🏻 a leadership style that empowers people to grow and be more productive in the long run. But it’s true that it’s a slow process 🐢hence impatient and stressed managers who feel the pressure to deliver quick results 🥵 are inclined to give advice and direction instead 👉🏻🤌🏻.

‼️If you want to see long term sustainable growth in your organization,
⭐️ give your managers access to regular coaching (b e f o r e they burn out!),
⭐️ give your managers at least a basic understanding of what coaching versus advising means (this will help them coach downwards) and,
⭐️ measure them on their ability to lead and enable others to grow.
