So much of my work looks like this these days.
(What a gift, am I right?)
I’ve been quieter here than usual, so let me tell you a little more.
Just over a year ago, a role came across my desk — a chance to work in my community. I was deep in coaching and juggling contract work. I wasn’t even sure I wanted it at first.
WOWzers, am I glad I went for it.
What looks like a simple woodworking workshop in a community garden is, I think, something quietly radical.
In a moment of rising fear, disconnection and increasing privatisation of public life — organising spaces where people can just meet, learn something, and belong?
That feels important.
The Westport Community Garden has been running for nearly 20 years, kept alive by volunteers who show up every Tuesday and Thursday. There’s so much skill and wisdom in that group. But joining a well-established community can feel intimidating — so this year, we’ve been hosting workshops as a low-pressure way in. Come learn a thing. Meet some people. Stay if it feels good.
So on a sunny spring Sunday, I built a window box alongside a group of community members and grinned about it the whole time.
This work takes SO much of my capacity — which is partly why you haven’t seen much of it here. But it feels deeply connected to my coaching: the material implementation of so much of what I work through with clients in their own lives. So I wanted to show you a little more of it. 💚
