Second generation turbo kit

Some modification was done to correct some problems! The turbo still the same and in April 1983 apparently some modification on the plenum was done as you could see 2 pressure sensor switch was added to monitoring the spark timing! (Microdynamics EMS3 module could be buy as an option coast of 75£) This option can trigger the old contact braker's and take control of the spark advance on boost, you have two Different setting to re**rd ignition by 1,5 ° of re**rd to 1 pound of boost, the other one seem to be an over-boost security. By the way the EMS3 could also protect you with a rev limiter. Unfortunately the internal composant in the EMS3 was not reliable and could have some " Gremlins inside "....

The other modification you could notice is the carburettor the new one was a smaller HIF 44, (I don't know why not to feed with an HIF7 similar in size with an HS7?) I have heard that this kit flood the spark plug on boost perhaps this is why they change for this smaller one?

An other modification you could notice is a different waste gate (I think to correct the problems revealed in the auto car article) the new one was a Rajay model.

My car in picture was probably modified in 1983-1984 and have this EMS3 option and a Janspeed turbo gauge model (i would take a more detailed picture soon), look inside the driver side in the air vent...

"If i 'am wrong on some detail about the story you could correct me i don't know exactly the right story" I just give you what i know with the different information i could find by the years...

SO ! Here is the 240Z- 260Z 1st gen Janspeed Turbo kit post! I will try to separate the subject for a better view so if you could do the same and post what is about each subject at the good place! Thanks!

> So In the First generation kit, turbo (a Rotomaster turbo sonic AR/60) was feed by a HS7 2"SU, you could notice that a specific plenum was made to link the turbo to the head in one part common to the intake and the exhaust !

In the first generation the waste gate was tune at 5PSi of boost and was an external rotomaster one! But as you could read in the Auto car road test this first gen waste gate was not well adapted!

Other modification for this kit was An oil cooler with an oil feed needed to supply oil to the turbo and a return line the the crankcase.

The car with this set up was dyno test to 160 BHP to the rear wheels à 5500 rpm, and record at 6,2 sec 0-60mph.

Janspeed Produce also Body kit likes those one! They also run their test car in several race with and without turbo kit, the car nowadays still exist and is run in hillclimb race, hope the owner comes with us soon!

Hi everybody’s !

Here my goal is to bring together the people who have owned a Janspeed turbo modified car!

I have own my car in 2003: A 1977 260z 2+2 Datsun Z with a janspeed turbo conversion !
It seem’s my car goes in 1982 to Salisbury Uk to make the turbo implant!

So I want to understand and know more than today about those conversion!

I know several guys with other Z converted at a time but not originally in the past and not directly at the Janspeed workshops !

I know also other Janspeed turbo car models like minis

I hope that creating links between the different people could help everybody

My car actually is still in body restoration time because of lot of rust area’s she had to wait this long time!
My project Is to rebuild it maybe very closely that I bought it same PLS 3 parts 14 rims, same color and the janspeed turbo set up for the history !
