Now, let's talk about group fighting.
For the first time, we had the opportunity to test small battle lines using the "Ost" combat style.
This style of fighting is particularly interesting because it gives us as saber and shield fighters a more significant role, as the polearms used are generally shorter.
One-handed spears are especially formidable in line combat and can be remarkably effective when used properly.
For us, however, there are still some challenges. First, as fighters who are primarily used to duelling, finding our place within a coordinated group formation is not always straightforward.
Second, we use relatively small nomadic kalkan shields, which offer different advantages and limitations compared to the larger shields commonly seen in line fighting.
Nevertheless, it was a very rewarding experience. It was an excellent way to start the weekend on a positive note, and the sense of camaraderie that develops during these battles is one of their most enjoyable aspects.
Fighting side by side with friends creates a unique atmosphere that is both engaging and highly rewarding.
