It’s nearing the end of January and a really warm, tranquil day here at The Retreat.
A visit and lovely catch up with a good friend (social distancing) then a read in the sun followed by a walk around the lake, up the lane and down to the Château.
Slept even better last night.

Great day - Twenty new fish stocked in Lac Claudette from fish farmer Jean-Noel Retailleurs - Pisiculture de la Gartempe.

Autumn is here in shades of yellow, orange, red, brown and still plenty of green.
The Retreat Lake is incredibly beautiful this morning, the fish are feeding well in the stock pond and the gite lake and also at Lac Claudette over near Ballots.
Lots to do this Autumn, Winter and Spring.
Andrew has made a start with mowing and cutting back in the stream and down one side of the lake. More labours of love taking place at Lac Claudette. It will be another busy but fun time here and there. A big thank you to all the people who we try to help and who help us out in our rural life in France. I continue to potter and turn on aerators and pumps and feed fish as necessary!

Some good fish caught at Lac Claudette by the guys from Belgium.
Just off down The Retreat Lake to see what’s going on there. One caught early this morning around breakfast time and I’m awaiting pictures.

A week at Lac Claudette then on to The Retreat to come out of the camper van into The Cottage. Stefan and Saskia, from nearby Amsterdam, think they have arrived in heaven. Their words but I think they’re spot on!

We have decided to add a few more weeks to this year, as there have been enquiries, as we usually finish at the end of September.
So the first week available is Saturday 27th September through to last week beginning Saturday 31st October.
It will be on a first come, first served basis.
