trayam ekatra saṁyamaḥ
The practice of these three — concentration, meditation and absorption — together constitutes integration.
(Yoga Sutra III.4, Patañjali)
Here, Patañjali refers to the last limbs of Ashtanga Yoga: Dharana, Dhyana and Samadhi.
It may seem like a well-worn cliché in today’s yoga communities to say this, but from what is shown everyday on social media, and what is expected from yoga teachers, I feel, it’s still important to remind it :
The practice of Yoga extends far beyond the asana and its outer form.
It carves deep internal pathways along the nadis and unfolds far beyond what can be perceived by the naked eye — through subtle connections, internal adjustments, and a silent organization of the body, both in movement and in stillness.
Practice is also everything that connects, organizes and unifies itself from within — without visible form, yet through a precision, a rightness and a subtlety felt in an intimate and deeply personal space — toward a kind of organic alignment and integration.
Teachers are just here to guide students, to give them keys and tools of exploration, but the real work unfolds in the continuity of a personal practice (and not only asana), where attention, breath and awareness meet in silence.
Let us gather for one last dance before summer, and immerse ourselves once again, together, in the subtleties of the practice.
