Wessex Biathlon & Nordic Ski Club

Snow Sports Club. The club hopes to develop athletes to compete at inter club, national level and above.

The Wessex Biathlon and Nordic Ski Club was founded in February 2006 to provide a focus for the Biathletes and Nordic skiers of the South West of England. The aims of the club are to develop the sport of biathlon in both the summer and winter formats and hence introduce people to cross-country skiing (through roller skiing) and target rifle shooting, eventually combining the two disciplines to produce biathletes. The summer training activities vary to suit the local terrain and facilities, include running, roller skiing, mountain biking and hill walking/ running, all to help develop aerobic endurance, speed and strength in preparation for the demands of biathlon racing. Not forgetting of course rifle shooting with both .22 rifles and air rifles. The club welcomes athletes and novices from all backgrounds who have an interest in the sport and want a varied and interesting training program.

There are still spaces in the Beginners, Improvers and Intermediate groups on the Snowsport England skills course at Lancaster on September 19 & 20th 2026

Learn a new sport or polish your skills ready for winter, you'll be doing both Classic and Skate style during this 2 day event.

The event will be on the Salt Ayre Cycle Circuit in Lancaster, traffic free and a great place to learn.

Fancy a roller ski at Castle Coombe?

A track day for small wheels. For those feeling sporty there will be a timed marathon with downloadable certificates for all finishers and 6 hour distance totals available. For those feeling more chilled a chance to skate on smooth tarmac as much or as little as they want.
