Jonathan, 192 years old, is the oldest living land animal on Earth. 🐢🌍

Some stories make us pause and appreciate the quiet wonders of nature. Jonathan, a gentle giant tortoise, has spent nearly two centuries slowly moving through life on the remote island of Saint Helena. His calm presence reminds people that time can move at a different rhythm in the natural world.

Jonathan is a Seychelles giant tortoise believed to be about 192 years old. Records show he arrived on Saint Helena in 1882 already fully grown. Today he lives on the grounds of Plantation House, where caretakers support him with fresh grass, vegetables, fruits, sunlight, and careful guidance as his eyesight has weakened with age.

While technology and societies continue changing rapidly, Jonathan’s life follows a simple routine. He grazes, enjoys the sun, and moves slowly across the grass each day.
