🎉 Happy Birthday to a True Volleyball Trailblazer-Ms. Elesi Ramoa Ketedromo! 🏐🇫🇯
Today, the Suva Volleyball Association acknowledges and celebrates the 70th birthday of an extraordinary leader, mentor and pioneer whose contribution to volleyball and sport in Fiji has spanned more than three decades.
Happy Birthday to Ms Ketedromo, a woman whose passion, vision and unwavering commitment have helped shape the history of volleyball in Fiji.
Ms. Ketedromo first assumed a leadership role within the Fiji Volleyball Federation in the 1990s, becoming one of the pioneering women in sports administration at a time when female leadership in national sporting organizations was rare. Her dedication, integrity and tireless service saw her rise to become the first woman elected President of the Fiji Volleyball Federation, creating history and opening doors for many women who have since followed in leadership roles.
A distinguished athlete, Ms. Ketedromo proudly represented Fiji in volleyball, beach volleyball, netball, athletics and hockey, before dedicating her career to developing sport through both the public service and sports administration. Her leadership has always been driven by a belief that sport can transform lives, empower communities and create opportunities for women and young people.
One of the defining highlights of her presidency came in 2015, when the Fiji Volleyball Federation achieved international recognition under her leadership by receiving two prestigious global awards. The Federation was honoured with the Beyond Sport Global Award in London and the Peace and Sport Award in Paris, recognising Fiji Volleyball as Federation of the Year for its outstanding commitment to gender equality at every level of the sport, particularly through its grassroots development programmes. These achievements placed Fiji Volleyball on the world stage and demonstrated how a small Pacific nation could lead globally in using sport to promote inclusion, equality and community development.
Today, we are honored to see Ms. Ketedromo continue her service to volleyball as the Vice President of the Fiji Volleyball Federation. Her return to the Board reflects her enduring passion for the sport and her continued commitment to strengthening volleyball in Fiji. Her wisdom, experience and mentorship remain invaluable as the Federation continues to grow and inspire future generations.
As women privileged to serve our sport today, we proudly acknowledge that we stand on the shoulders of pioneers like Ms. Ketedromo. Her courage to lead, her vision for inclusive governance and her lifelong dedication have inspired countless women to step forward as athletes, coaches, referees, administrators and leaders.
