Mission accomplished!
We came to conquer, to create history in the Northern Division, and it's back to base, and back to the business of serving our fellow Fijians and visitors.
The Commissioner of Police Rusiate Tudravu described the 26-10 win over the Republic of Fiji Military Forces as a victory not only in policing but in unity, as hundreds converged at Labasa's Subrail Park today to witness history unfold, with the first ever Ratu Sukuna Rugby Challenge in the Friendly North in the tournament's 74 year history.
"The win today means a lot to me, both professionally and personally, and I believe many share my sentiments, as this was more than about rugby, but being able to share an experience that is often enjoyed by those in Viti Levu."
"I salute our officers who showed their allegiance to my leadership when I challenged them to stand up and strive towards excellence in all that we do. We dedicate this victory to our supporters and everyone who has stood by us in our good and bad times, and especially the people of Vanua Levu, and ask that we continue the momentum through partnership in keeping our communities safe."
Commissioner Tudravu said the support shown by the people of Vanua Levu embodies the spirit of the Ratu Sukuna challenge, renewing old ties and forging new ones, united in working together for a safe Fiji for all.
Commissioner Tudravu also conveyed his appreciation to the Commander of the Republic of Fiji Military Forces Major General Jone Kalouniwai for accepting the decision to take the main challenge to the Northern Division, adding that as usual, Army put up a fierce fight for the Sukuna tanoa, giving Northern supporters, the true experience of what the tournament is all about.
