RATU SUKUNA DAY MESSAGE
From the President of Fresh Choice Tailevu Rugby Football Union, Mr Joseph Rodan Snr.

Ni Sa Bula Vinaka to the people of Tailevu, our beloved rugby family, our youths, sponsors, supporters, and all Fijians here at home and abroad,

On this sacred occasion of Ratu Sukuna Day, we pause with deep respect and reflection to honour the life and legacy of Ratu Sir Lala Sukuna, a man whose vision, sacrifice, and leadership laid the foundation of modern Fiji. He was not only a chief, but a scholar, soldier, and nation builder whose legacy continues to guide us even today .

Ratu Sukunaโ€™s life reminds us that true leadership is not measured by position, wealth, or recognition, but by service, discipline, humility, and the courage to uplift others. He believed in building strong systems for future generations, ensuring that the youth of Fiji would inherit opportunity, stability, and hope.

Today, as we reflect on his legacy, we also look deeply into our responsibility as leaders of Fresh Choice Tailevu Rugby Football Union. Rugby in Tailevu is more than a game. It is a lifeline, a classroom without walls, a platform where our young boys and girls learn discipline, teamwork, resilience, and respect.

Our youths are facing many challenges in todayโ€™s world, from unemployment to social pressures, from loss of direction to the struggle for identity. But just as Ratu Sukuna guided Fiji through complex times with wisdom and unity, we too must guide our youths with patience, structure, and unwavering belief in their potential.

We firmly believe that every young person in Tailevu carries a gift. Some will shine on the rugby field, some in education, some in business, and others in service to their communities. Our role is to nurture these gifts, not neglect them. To guide them, not judge them. To empower them, not abandon them.

To our players, you are not just athletes. You are future fathers, leaders, teachers, and ambassadors of Tailevu. Your discipline today will define your destiny tomorrow.

To our parents and supporters, your sacrifice is the foundation of every success story we celebrate. Your encouragement builds the confidence of our youth.

To our sponsors and partners, your investment is not just in rugby, but in human development, in hope, and in the future of our Province.

As we honour Ratu Sukuna, let us also recommit ourselves to unity, education, discipline, and service. Let us raise a generation that is proud of its identity, strong in character, and committed to building a better Fiji.

May the legacy of Ratu Sukuna continue to inspire us to serve with integrity, lead with humility, and live with purpose.

On behalf of Fresh Choice Tailevu Rugby Football Union, I wish all families in Tailevu, Fiji, and those abroad a blessed and meaningful Ratu Sukuna Day.

Vinaka Saka Vakalevu.

On behalf of the Fresh Choice Tailevu Rugby Football Union, the President, Mr. Joseph Rodan Snr, extends his warmest Motherโ€™s Day wishes to all mothers, grandmothers, wives, daughters and women throughout Tailevu, Fiji and abroad.

Today is not only a celebration of motherhood, but also a celebration of the strength, sacrifice, resilience and leadership of women in our families, communities and in rugby.

In Tailevu Rugby Football Union, we proudly stand for women empowerment, gender equality and the recognition of the valuable contribution women continue to make every single day. Women are the backbone of our homes, villages, churches, workplaces and sporting communities. They are caregivers, leaders, mentors, providers, teachers and peacemakers who continue to shape the lives of our young people and future generations.

We acknowledge the countless hours of unpaid work carried out by women every day, caring for children, preparing meals, supporting family welfare, looking after the elderly, fundraising for Union and schools, washing jerseys, travelling to support teams, encouraging our players, and making sacrifices quietly behind the scenes without recognition or reward. These acts of love and service are priceless and often unseen, yet they hold our families and communities together.

In rugby, we see the important role women play not only as mothers and supporters, but also as administrators, managers, medics, referees, volunteers and leaders who continue to contribute immensely to the growth and development of the game in Tailevu. Their dedication and commitment continue to inspire positive change within our rugby union and society.

As we celebrate Motherโ€™s Day, we also honour the women who continue to break barriers, overcome challenges and lead with courage and dignity. Your strength inspires our players to become better men, responsible citizens and respectful leaders within our communities.

To every mother and every woman who continues to sacrifice for the wellbeing of others, we thank you, we honour you and we appreciate you.

May God continue to bless all women with strength, wisdom, good health, peace and happiness. Your contribution to our lives, our families and our rugby journey will never go unnoticed.

Happy Motherโ€™s Day from the Fresh Choice Tailevu Rugby Football Union๐Ÿ’๐Ÿ™
