Galaxy Touch Fiji touch rugby Family Fun Community Galaxy World wide started off with founder Peter Walter of Galaxy Auckland.

Galaxy is well known organization in the sports of touch rugby world wide. Galaxy has clubs all over NZ, clubs also is Australia, Hong Kong, Europe, UK and United States. Peter Walters wanted me to expand the club to Fiji and on his return home in 2020 approached his friend in Fiji Coach Rafaele Yavala where they established Galaxy Saints . Galaxy Saints was established through the partnership

with the Catholic youth of Mt Saint Marys in Fiji this was established in 2021 after the covid pandemic and they made their debut in 2021. Galaxy Fiji was formed to develop youth in the community. Galaxy not only develop sports but also empower community through entrepreneurship in business, farming, financial literacy and assisting youth through preparation of CV and work application training. Through this training and empowerment majority of our youth establishment have found employment locally and some have travelled overseas to work through the Government program (NEC). in 2023 it expanded to communities in Local Nadi Corridor and now includes Youth in Martintar, Waqadra,Korovuto and CAAF Compund Area,Votu;evu and Malawai, This recently formed Youth club formed the team name Galaxy AwtKast. Through sports Schools have requested our assistance and support to do sports development in their schools. Through the sports program some students have been selected last year to represent the Western Franchise development team in the Fiji cup to compete with Australian and New Zealand clubs last November. The program still running with players playing in the local competition of the Nadi Touch Rugby Association weekly competition 2023.

Touch New Zealand is proud to congratulate Peter Walters, who was today made an Officer of the New Zealand Order of Merit for services to Touch Rugby.

Peter Walters ONZM has a resume that stretches many decades. His service to our sport both domestically & around the world is widely respected, appreciated & celebrated. Mr Touch truly is known throughout the Galaxy.

In an interview with Whakaata Māori earlier this year, Pete was asked how he has managed to stay passionately involved for so long —

"One of the big things that keeps me going, and why I'm still running around today, is that this is my fun thing. This is the thing that, whether I was 20 or in my 60s now, it's always been my fun first and foremost.”

Congrats, Mr Touch. We’re proud of you & thank you for your service. Past, present & well into the future.
