Mr.

Taki Mai Touch started back in 2013 when a group of friends wanted to form a touch team to participate in friendly matches against other neighboring teams in Nadi. From what started out as a social mens team has expanded into 2 mens team and 1 mixed team that compete in the Nadi Touch Rugby Association (NTRA) as well as the Fijian Cup, Touch Tavu , Scenic Cup and many more. Qio Madigibuli known as

‘Qizza' was the main man that came up with the idea of forming the touch team, along with his MBHS Old Boys – the Wong Brothers (Joseph and W***y) , Ilaitia Browne, John Hazleman, Andy Behr, Jone Cokanasiga, Henry Tuivanuavou and Iliesa Waqanisau.

‘Taki Mai' pretty much describes the culture of the team in the early years which was basically, meet up on Saturdays, play touch and Taki afterwards. Special shout out to the “Fly Boys" – (Lui Koroi, Masau Nailatikau, Kitione Leweniqila, Peni Yauvoli and Esira Donu) who have been the teams sponsor from Day one. The club is fortunate to have the services of former Fiji 7s rep Suliasi Ramasima, former Fiji Touch Rugby reps – Paul Darroch, Mahlon, Diamond and Semi Raikunas well as former Fijiana 7s rep/SPG Gold medalist – Sereana Nagatalevu. We were also blessed to have been guided and coached under the watchful eyes of former Raiwaqa Flyers coach and experienced Fiji Touch Rugby Campaigner Mr. Team Taki currently have a player base of 50 players and is proud to have the technical expertise and leadership of Master Asesela Lagiloa. The club competes in the Nadi Touch Rugby Association and is represented in the following categories;

U16s - Taki Kajis
Mens Open - Taki Mens & Taki Legends
Womens Open - Taki Lewas
Mixed Open - Taki Mix

Taki Mai is not just a touch team, Taki Mai is a family. So, if you're keen in playing the sport to compete or just for the fun of it, we've got a ‘Taki' for you. At the end of the day it's all about having fun, keeping fit and healthy, meeting new people and forming new friendships ! Affiliation

After 3 incredible years of dominance and proudly holding the Holy Grail of Nadi Touch – the Tuwawa Shield – the Taki Men’s team entered the 2025 season with fresh faces and high hopes. With around 7 debutants joining the ranks, the campaign began with a sense of transition and adjustment, and understandably, a slow start.

Yet, true to the Taki Men’s spirit, the boys rallied. They battled their way through the season, showing grit, unity, and flashes of brilliance when it mattered most. Their resilience saw them push through the playoffs and into the Grand Final – a remarkable feat in itself, considering the rebuilding phase.

The Grand Final mirrored the team’s season in many ways: a hesitant start saw them fall behind 2–4 in the first half. But in typical Taki Mai fashion, the second half was a showcase of heart and hunger. A rapid-fire series of tries brought the game back to life, and momentum seemed to shift their way. However, a perfectly timed intercept by the Finals MVP dashed any chances of a comeback.

It was the first time all season Taki Men’s fielded a full squad, and while the talent was evident, it was also clear that cohesion in both attack and defense wasn’t quite there. Elements exploited those gaps with precision, particularly in their dump-split combinations, and made every opportunity count.

Congratulations to our brothers from 🫡 a hard-fought, well-deserved win. Your persistence and ex*****on were top-class 👏👏👏

To our families, friends, and loyal supporters – thank you for riding with us through the highs and lows. We’re sorry we couldn’t bring it home this time, but your support means everything 🙏

Taki Men’s will be back. Regrouped, refocused, and ready to reclaim what’s ours 🫡
