“Previously, athletes could not independently monitor the hit points. Usually a coach can only look at one athlete’s hits at a time. A computer-defined hit point is also more accurate than the traditional practice where a coach marks the location of each hit manually on a display board. In addition, the new target system has made it possible to automatically relate the actual hit points to the measured aim point locations.”

"This new solution also helps recover nearly 100% of the lead from the bullets and thus significantly reduces the environmental impact of shooting ranges."

The development of the ESB-2 was made possible through co-funding from the European Union.

A new biathlon target system not only changes how shooting results are monitored, but enables more efficient recovery of the lead used in bullets. A valuable testing has been done in Vuokatti.

A few weeks back, we ran live results with ESB-2 targets at the Loop One Festival in Munich — the biathlon season opener that brought together over 50,000 biathlon fans, world-class athletes, and an international live TV broadcast.

The nearly 100% lead collection of the ESB-2 target range enable biathlon competitions to take place in unique settings like Munich Olympiapark. The live feed showing precise hit locations adds a whole new level of excitement for fans around the world — and provides valuable data for athletes, referees, and coaches alike.

Race Season 25/26 is here! Our team had the pleasure of building and running the Kurvinen ESB-2 biathlon range with result system for City-Biathlon Dresden 2025.

The race was a great success, featuring world stars and an amazing audience both on-site and around the world.

The Kurvinen ESB-2 Biathlon Target System provides extensive information about precise shot location for both coaches and live TV audiences, enabling more efficient training and even more exciting racing for millions of biathlon fans around the world.

on Dresden 2025 also featured the electronic biathlon range, including the Ecoaims electronic biathlon rifles for VI athletes. Team Kurvinen and Ecoaims are truly excited to be part of these events and races—shaping the future of biathlon.
