On Saturday, we took part in the competition. We were joined by from for the day. The weather forecast promised unstable conditions, and the threat of rain lingered over us. It was dark when we arrived at the harbor—and just as dark when we returned.

In our spots, the pike weren’t particularly active, but steady effort paid off with a satisfying result. Our final score was 438, earning us 36th place.

A big thank you to the organizers and to Oskar for joining us—and congratulations to the winners!

Miro saw it—just a shadow at first, gliding beneath the lure like a ghost. The closer it came, the clearer it became: this was no ordinary fish. Broad-necked, massive, silent. Easily over 10 cm across. It followed the red-and-black Lazy Jerk from the depths, staying about 40 cm below. A silent stalker. No strike. No rush. Just presence.
Ten minutes passed.
Then it came back.
This time, it rose to within 15 cm of a Junior Pig. The same neck. The same deliberate stillness. His pulse jumped—this was the same fish. And it was a monster.
He threw everything at it. One proven lure after another. Nothing stirred the beast.
Until he tied on the 34 cm Dexter.
First cast: just a faint tail tap.
Second cast: impact!
It hit like a freight train.
What followed was chaos—raw power on the line, and a battle that bent the rod to its limits. When it finally slid into the net, it wasn’t over. The beast thrashed, rolled, wrapped every treble deep into the mesh.
But it was done.
The beast was in the boat.
And now, after the release, —it lives in the photo.

Hk-Open spring -25 day 3. The final day and we were short pikes from full score sheet. Our destination for sunday was a lake that was a stoppage for a river. The battle started with getting the boat to the water. There was no ramps for us. So we had to find different solution. After the boat was on the water, we catched few pikes straight away. Then we headed to the incoming part of the river. Few pikes and we saw one pike big enough to the paper. Then we started to head up to the river and we found one good pike for the paper. After that we went back to lake to realize that it was really shallow. So we decided head to the outflowing river area. There was big pikes and we saw couple big waves behind the lures but no improve. But there was potential. At the end of the competition we were one pike short of full sheet. But really fun to fish new places.

Hk-Open spring -25 day 2. Saturdays plan was to fish a lake that is connected to a river. These were totally new places for our team. We spent almost twelve hours without any fish added to the sheet. We talked with local people and got some hints. Last hint was a lake connected to the same river that we were fishing. We went there and a old man said to us that this was the place of pikes. We spent over an hour without any action. Same man came back and told that he had already caught five pikes at the same time. We were desperate, so we started trolling. And after ten minutes first pike to the sheet was on the boat. We caught another big enough pike and some smaller ones. So sundays target was to fill the sheet...

Hk-Open spring - 25 day 1. Miro headed early to our first lake while Janne and Sami were running late as usual. Late evening we were on the boat and had few hours to operate. After a while Janne caught our first pike to the sheet with Tippa. That was the only bigger pike for that day. But for us it was a good start for the competition and we started to wait day 2.

Our team participated last Saturday competition. The picture tells it all. Bigger fish was passive and even the smaller ones were mostly just following the lures. Hope that we can do better at Hk-Open. Congrats to the top teams!

A long silence behind us. But let's go back to last autumn and the HK-Open. The other team pulled a good card and Anki won a 106-centimeter long green torpedo. This gave them the tournament prize for 2024 and at the same time the top spot on the team's all time list of the biggest pike. Gongrats to !

Miro participated to Sommarböjjet 2024 with .tapanainen28 and .tapanainen. They were able to get full score sheet and gained 5th position. Nice job guys!

Miro's comment:
"The weather forecast was predicting random rains and it was raining when we were packing the car and the boat. But when we got the boat to the water the rain stopped. And the weather was nice for fishing and the rain was passing us further away. After a hour of fishing our sheet was full. And after that we were able to upgrade it by few centimeters. Thanks to Jani and Valter for good companion! "

HK-Open is now in the past. We participated with two teams. We started fishing at Saturday due late arrival at Friday. The weather is was quite warm and also the water. Saturday was cloudy and potential pike fishing weather and Sunday was opposite total sun and no wind. Nearly 100 pikes visited two boat. But only four were added to the score sheet. The biggest was Ville's 96cm. Congrats to the winners and thanks to the organizers!
