You can also start with less calories and repetitions but keep adding that extra one every minute 👍🏻

5km Run

Using myself as an example if I were to run 5km
I weigh 200lb (90kg)
if I ran 5km in 20minutes i would burn around 400 calories
if I ran it in 30minutes around 470 calories! Not bad.

Front Squat / Strength Training

If I were to hit the gym for 30 minutes with some lovely front squats, I could expect to burn anywhere between 250 and 300 calories. Still good!

The results look pretty clear right? Well things are never that simple I’m afraid, Cardio exercise like running will burn more calories that is clear! However if this is all you do it can also decrease muscle mass which is not ideal for more permanent weight loss.

Strength training will help you in increase muscle mass and muscle is needed to keep your metabolism high. A higher metabolism = Better weight loss (and keeping it off) more energy, better sleep, and burning more calories at bedtime.

So what have we learnt…. A mixture of Cardio and Strength training let’s call it ‘Functional Training’ like CrossFit are a great combination. But never forget NUTRITION is the key to Health, Weight loss and Longevity.

➡️ Who am I?….

My name is Ollie Hurrell a British national now living in central Finland Jyväskylä.

I am a Personal Trainer, Group exercise instructor, Exercise programmer and offer Nutritional guidance for those wishing to take their health and Fitness to the next level. I am also a L2 CrossFit coach and one of 3 owners in Jyväskylä.

- Courage
- Kindness
- Honesty

These 3 values are things I always reflect upon when making those tougher decisions or interacting with people.

➡️ What I offer…

I am offering to any individual or couple (small group) wishing to attain specific Health & Fitness goals. That could be Weight loss? How to train most effectively?!
How often? Or learning new or improving movements such as…. Olympic Lifting ( Clean/Jerk/Snatch), Power lifting (Squat/Press/Deadlift), Gymnastics! An opportunity to learn, and train with a friendly, positive, experienced coach. (Me 🤪)
