Confronting Gendered Violence A Nordic conference on domestic and intimate partner violence with focus on the contexts of perpetrators.

Nordic conference on domestic and intimate partner violence. The conference sets focus on the contexts of perpetrators in the Nordic countries, seeking to find ways to break the cycles of violence. The purpose of the conference is to generate knowledge within the field and explore different ways to address domestic and intimate partner violence. The conference will offer a platform for sharing les

sons, discussing the implementation of the Istanbul convention and create a dialogue between the different actors in the field within the Nordic countries. The target group of the conference is the different actors working with the issues regarding perpetrators of domestic and intimate partner violence, policymakers and practitioners such as NGOs, researchers, institutes and organizations that make the support systems within the Nordic countries. The conference consists of sessions and workshops presenting treatment options for perpetrators, research on perpetrators as well as social frameworks and support systems. The conference will be held in the House of Estates, situated in the city center of Helsinki. The program starts on 30 November 2016 at 12:00 and comes to an end on 2 December at 13:00.

Two of our affiliates, Milica Minić and Jón Ingvar Kjaran will be attending conferences in Örebro and Jyväskylä in 14-16 June 2017. They will be moderating meetings with those that might be attending the same events to organize a discussion around the Network’s establishment and the proposed Concept note.

"According to Kristín Pálsdóttir, the intention with the 3-day conference is to enable various actors to meet and discuss how the issue is handled in the different Nordic countries. What treatments and solutions are available? What does the research say? Another objective is to create a Nordic network.
