We’re proud to announce that the Garmin ORC Doublehanded Europeans 2025 in Helsinki has earned the Platinum-Level Clean Regatta certification 〰️ the highest global standard for sustainable sailing events. 🌍⛵

From talking relentlessly about the state of our beloved Baltic Sea, to eliminating single-use plastics and serving local, sustainable food, to organizing a shoreline cleanup and teaming up with partners like DYNAMICNORD and Superyellow to award champions with practical and planet-friendly “trophies” — our team and volunteers showed how sailing with purpose can be brought to an ORC title event with resounding success.

Sailors for the Sea Clean Regattas is the world’s leading sustainability certification for on-the-water events. Since 2006, it’s reached 1.7 million sailors across 53 countries, and we’re proud to be part of that legacy.

This recognition isn’t just about one event. It’s a commitment to raising the bar for sustainability in competitive sailing and ORC - Offshore Racing Congress events here in the Baltics and beyond.

With years of experience and calm leadership on the water, Ari Peltomäki was the man behind the race management at the 𝗚𝗮𝗿𝗺𝗶𝗻 𝗢𝗥𝗖 𝗗𝗼𝘂𝗯𝗹𝗲-𝗛𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗱 𝗘𝘂𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗮𝗻 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 in Helsinki. The Long Offshore Race of the 2025 Garmin ORC Double-Handed European Championship, concluded on Friday in Helsinki after a challenging 247 to 283-nautical-mile course across the Gulf of Finland and back.

🎙 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝗚𝗼𝗼𝗱𝗶𝗼 – 𝗖𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘀 𝗕 𝗢𝗥𝗖 𝗗𝗛 𝗘𝘂𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗮𝗻 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀!
After 49 hours on the water, Finnish duo 𝗞𝗶𝗺 𝗝ää𝘀𝗸𝗲𝗹ä𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗧𝘂𝗿𝗼 𝗡𝘂𝗺𝗺𝗶 of 𝙏𝙚𝙖𝙢 𝙂𝙤𝙤𝙙𝙞𝙤 (Mat 1010) crossed the finish line to win both the 𝗟𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗢𝗳𝗳𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗥𝗮𝗰𝗲 and the 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱 𝗢𝗥𝗖 𝗗𝗼𝘂𝗯𝗹𝗲-𝗛𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗱 𝗘𝘂𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗮𝗻 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝘁𝗶𝘁𝗹𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗖𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘀 𝗕.

In this interview, they reflect on their bold tactical choices, how they handled changing conditions through the night, and the four-year journey of developing their boat into a true offshore performer.
