As promised, HSK W was again one of the 26 participants at the J70 Easter Regatta at Hellerup, Copenhagen.
We started with an excellent training session on Thursday. On Friday it was time for the first day of the competition. Four races were scheduled with 5-10m/s wind.
This was our first time using Vakaros RaceSense. No need to ping the start line or wonder if we were OCS or not (yes, we were). How convenient! We decided to take riskier starts than usual and go for the best position at the start line. Unfortunately this didn’t pay off every time and we had to fight our way up in the fleet. The score of the day was 22, 17, 12 and 13, putting us to 14th position overall and the first all-female team.
This ended up being also the final result of the regatta. On Saturday and Sunday the wind was too strong for safe sailing and the race committee had to make the only responsible decision and cancel the racing on both days.
Despite only two sailing days we had fun in other ways. We won a croquet game, enjoyed sauna and swimming in the sea and had many wonderful meals at the club restaurant. Thank you to our old and new Danish friends for making us feel so welcome. See you next year!
