Those of you who know me well know that I love to run on the road. For me there is nothing better than a long flattish strip pf asphalt for miles. It’s boring...I run alone a lot with nothing to distract me except the metronome tap of my shoes. But, at times, it’s important to challenge ourselves a little. Do something different. Today, I ran a 24km trail run. It was hot (hotter than I’m used to this time of the year) and hilly (a big test for my arthritic knees), but it was totally wonderful.
It wasn’t fast, I couldn’t deploy my usual z2 heart rate strategy for some parts, but....I saw that there is nothing better than to be able to run on a safe, empty, beautiful trail. I shared my 24km journey with butterflies, birds, squirrels and bees. I stopped a couple of times to eat and take photos and even to splash my face in the cool stream water. I am forever changed😊. I haven’t planned any races or events this year, and not sure I will. Let these amazing pics be my medals 🏃♀️
