The long-awaited opening of the Kimola Channel and lock took place this monday, August 3! 🥳 Now it's a historical date!

This Week-end our team will set off on a test trip along a new route for AquaVilla Houseboats. We will to check everything ourselves! Our route is designed for 60 km and will take from 3 to 7 days at a calm pace with sorties on land, rest on the water and, of course, a tour through the Kimola channel.

And in our video, we captured the first passage of the lock, tunnel and channel. The Kimola Channel is something unique: the water drop is 12 meters, the volume of the lock chamber is more than 3 million liters. This is the only boat tunnel in northern Europe carved into the rock, which length is 70 meters.

The first passing through was impressive, and what beautiful places are there 😍

For children, travelling with parents on a houseboat 🛥 is not just a cool adventure. These are vivid memories for life!

Everything will be remembered: driving a houseboat, fueling at a special station, passing the gateway, cooking together in a cabin or on a deck grill, fishing, sauna, swimming in a clean lake, hiking for berries or mushrooms, making a fire and camping food on the lake, beautiful sunrises and sunsets 🌅

A while ago we found a curious place on the route!

On the way to Kimola channel you can stop at the pier of Vuolenski village and ... find yourself in a very nice farm zoo Kilkkilän Farmi

There will be a lot of emotions for children and adults:
➡️ here you will meet local “finnish” animals - ostriches and alpacas 😅 and, of course, donkeys, reindeers, ponies, hens, cows;
➡️ play with children in a playground;
➡️ also you can buy local farm products: beef, ostrich, chicken and ostrich eggs, local beer and cider.

And here’s a quick question from our Captain Tuhka: guess - what is the name of one of the ostriches on this farm?
