Käringsundsloppet - a heldag fylld med fantastisk cykling längs Ålands vackra, röda vägar!

Käringsundsloppet är ett kombinerat motions- och tävlingslopp på cykel längs Ålands röda asfaltvägar med lämpliga sträckor både för nybörjaren och semesterfiraren samt för den vana, tävlingssugna cyklisten som letar efter nya utmaningar! Distanser: Drygt 170km (tävling och motion) samt 110km, 30km och Juniorrundan 11km (motion)

A combined bicycle event with both race- and open classes along Åland

Island red asphalt roads with suitable distances for both the beginner and holidaymaker and for the experienced race cyclists looking for new challenges! Distances: just over 170km (competition and open classes) and also 110-, 30 och Juniorrundan approx.11km (open classes)

Tomorrow (Saturday 27.6) it's time for this year's edition of the Tour d'Archipedalo 170 km.

TODAY (Friday 26.6), the race office at Käringsund will be open from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., and you are very welcome to pick up your race number.
An optional race briefing will also be held this evening at 7:00 p.m. on the terrace at Käringsund. Everyone is welcome to attend.

If you haven't registered yet but would like to take part, you can also register on site today!

Race numbers can also be collected tomorrow (Saturday) from 6:30 a.m. to 8:00 a.m.

The 31 pre-registered participants have just been sent an email with information about i.a. when you can pick up your race bib and other things that may be good to remember.

We are heading towards another wonderfull weekend so do not forget to take a bag with your swimsuit. You can leave the bag in the service car that will follow us for the whole day.

The traditional soup will be served in västra Simskäla before the boat trip to Saltvik. Here we do also have time for a quick swim for those who prefer. You can take your swimsuit in a bag and leave it in the service car. Take also a jacket for the boat trip that takes around 20 minutes.🚴‍♀️🚣‍♀️🚴‍♀️

HAPPY MIDSUMMER! 🌼

With these beautiful views, we would like to wish you all a wonderful Midsummer celebration!

These photos were taken along what used to be the first stage of the 170 km Tour d’Archipedalo route, but they could just as easily have been taken almost anywhere in the Åland Islands, which offer, among other things:

🌊 Stunning sea views
🌾 Beautiful countryside landscapes
🐑 Grazing animals and peaceful rural surroundings
🎋 Traditional Midsummer poles in village after village
☀️ The highest number of sunshine hours in the Nordic region
🚴‍♂️ Quiet roads that are perfect for cycling

These are just some of the sights you can enjoy while cycling in the Åland Islands!

Race or ride for Fun? 🚴‍♂️

At the Tour d’Archipedalo, there is no official timing, but an internal Strava competition will be available for those who want to challenge themselves.

Want to Race?
The competitive option is a combination of a road race and a time trial, primarily intended for experienced cyclists who can maintain a high pace throughout the day.
Participants in the competitive class start together at 8:00 AM and must complete the first road race section within 1 hour 55 minutes, requiring an average speed of 35.5 km/h.

Prefer a Leisurely Ride?
The event can also be enjoyed at a more relaxed pace while taking in the beauty of our archipelago, without any competitive elements.
Participants in the recreational class are recommended to start between 7:00 and 7:30 AM. This allows them to complete the first road race section in 2 hours 44 minutes to 3 hours 10 minutes, corresponding to an average speed of 21.5–25.5 km/h.

For the rest of the day, both competitive and recreational riders follow the same route and share the experience together. In other words, the day is perfect for groups where some riders want to push their limits and let the adrenaline flow, while others prefer to enjoy the ride and soak up the endorphins.

So whether you're a competitive cyclist or simply out to enjoy life on two wheels – you're all welcome, and you can do it together!

Less than two weeks to go until Käringsundsloppet / TOUR d’ARCHIPEDALO! 🚴‍♀️

With the event just around the corner, it’s time for a few final reminders. First of all – what kind of event is this really? 🧐
It’s a fantastic summer day filled with cycling along the scenic roads of the Åland Islands, including stretches of the islands’ characteristic red granite roads 🇦🇽

With its relatively flat terrain, short distances, the highest number of sunshine hours in the Nordic region, and an extensive road network spanning both the main island and the archipelago, Åland is a cyclist’s paradise. Along the more than 1,000 kilometres of public roads, you’ll meet everyone from families enjoying a cycling holiday to dedicated riders aiming to reach the finish line as quickly as possible.

The TOUR d’ARCHIPEDALO on Saturday 27.6. 2026 includes:

🚴‍♀️ 170 km of cycling through both the main island and the archipelago
🚴‍♀️ No official timing, but the opportunity to compete and compare results via Strava
🚴‍♀️ Lunch during the ride
🚴‍♀️ An after-bike gathering by the sea, including sauna and a light grilled evening meal

Only 50 participants can join the event, and 28 riders have already secured their place. That means more than half of the available spots are now gone!
