Golf se jugará en los Juegos Olímpicos por primera vez desde los Juegos Olímpicos de Verano 1904 en St. Louis, y contará con eventos individuales de hombres y mujeres. Ambos eventos tendrán 60 jugadores que compiten en un juego por golpes a 72 hoyos competencia formato para las medallas de Oro, Plata y Bronce.

De acuerdo con las reglas de la Federación Internacional de Golf, los 60 jugadores serán determinados por una Lista de clasificación olímpica de golf que se publicará en el sitio web de IGF y se basa en la clasificación oficial de golf del mundo de un jugador.

Todos los jugadores dentro del "top-15" de la clasificación a partir del 11 de julio 2016, serán elegibles, con una gran advertencia: No más de cuatro jugadores pueden venir de un solo país. El resto del campo será determinado por la clasificación de golf del mundo, con un máximo de dos jugadores por país para los países que no tienen más de dos jugadores en el top-15. Si se celebraron los Juegos Olímpicos de hoy, entonces Bubba Watson (World Ranking cuarto), Matt Kuchar (quinto), Tiger Woods (séptimo) y Jordan Spieth (10a) haría que el equipo de Estados Unidos, mientras top 15 jugadores Jim Furyk (11), Phil Mickelson (13) y Zach Johnson (14a) se quedarían fuera. Ningún otro país tiene más de dos jugadores en el top-15.

Golf will be played at the Olympics for the first since the 1904 Summer Olympics in St. Louis, and will feature men's and women's individual events. Both events will have 60 players competing in a 72-hole stroke play format competition for the Gold, Silver and Bronze medals.

According to federation rules, the 60 players will be determined by an Olympic Golf Ranking list to be published on the IGF website and is based on a player's official world golf ranking.

All players within the top-15 of the rankings as of July 11, 2016, will be eligible, with one big caveat: No more than four players can come from any one country. The rest of the field will be determined by the world golf rankings, with a maximum of two players per country for countries that don't have more than two players in the top-15. If the Olympics were held today, then Bubba Watson (World Rank 4th), Matt Kuchar (5th), Tiger Woods (7th) and Jordan Spieth (10th) would make the U.S. team, while top-15 players Jim Furyk (11th), Phil Mickelson (13th) and Zach Johnson (14th) would be left out. No other country has more than two players in the top 15 in the Official World Golf Rankings.

Qualifying for the Olympic Games ends July 11, 2016, and the final Olympic list will be released after that. The opening ceremonies for the Games are scheduled for Aug. 5, 2016.

Si usted no chequea el pronóstico del tiempo antes de jugar golf, usted no es un jugador de golf. Conocer el pronóstico le permite empacar todo lo que pueda necesitar para ayudarte a superar la ronda.

Se supone que va a llover, ¿qué debo llevar?

Aquí hay algunas sugerencias:

1.- Un Tuque (sombrero de invierno o gorra): Con el clima frío y el viento soplando, un sombrero de invierno para mantener el calor puede resultar ser un método efectivo comparado con la gorra tradicional.

2.- Guantes adicionales: Siempre llevo uno guantes adicionales conmigo y me ayudó una vez. Mis guantes se rompieron, asi que me cambie a unos guantes secos para terminar la ronda.

3.- Gear: Un traje resistente al agua y viento te ayudarán a mantenerte seco y cálido. Un buen traje mantendrá su ropa seca y le permitirá mantener su swing normal.

4.- Paraguas: Cuando usted está caminando, es una necesidad, pero incluso cuando se toma un carrito demuestran ser útiles. Úsalos al caminar. Cada momento de estar seco, ayuda.

5.-Toallas: Siempre tengo una conmigo, pero cuando estoy jugando bajo la lluvia, trato de llevar dos, que uso para secar los asientos en el carro o cualquier otra cosa, la otra la uso para secar las manos o los clubes antes de un tiro.

6.- Calcetines adicionales: Sí, los zapatos de golf son bastante buenos para mantener tus pies secos, pero unos pies cálidos podrían ser la diferencia. Lleve un par extra de calcetines en su bolsa y úsalos en el turno, o cuando fuera necesario.

If you don't check the forecast before you play golf, you're not a golfer. Knowing the forecast allows you to pack whatever you might need to get you through the round.

It's Supposed to Rain, What Do I Bring?

Here are a few suggestions:

1.- A Tuque (winter hat or scull cap): With the weather so cold and the wind blowing, I went with a winter hat to keep warm. It proved to be an effective method over the traditional cap.

2.- Extra Gloves: I always carry an extra glove with me and it helped out in this weather. My glove eventually ripped and I switched to a new dry glove to finish the round. It was wet by the end but did the job during.

3.- Gear: A water and wind resistant suit will help keep you dry and warm. A good suit will keep your clothes dry and allow you maintain your normal swing. It's also helpful in keeping warm.

4.- Umbrella: When you're walking, it's a must but even when taking a cart they prove to be helpful. Use them when walking to the green or to the tee box. Every little bit of staying dry helps.

5.-Golf Towels: I always have one on me but when I'm playing in the rain, I try to carry two. One I use to dry off the seats in the cart or anything else, the other I'll use to dry my hands or clubs prior to a shot. Wipe down the grips before you so you can hang onto the club.

6.- Extra Socks: Yes, golf shoes are pretty good at keeping you dry, but warm feet might be the difference maker. Stuff an extra pair of socks in your bag and slip them on at the turn or if needed.

Woods ve similitudes entre el efecto de Lionel Messi y Cristiano Ronaldo están teniendo en el fútbol, y cómo él ha cambiado el golf.

"Lo que Messi y Ronaldo están haciendo en el fútbol actual es simplemente fenomenal".

"Cuando entré en el golf, lo hice de manera diferente porque nunca nadie había entrenado, nadie levantaba pesas, nadie corrió millas, nunca nadie hizo sprints", recordó.

"Nunca nadie hizo ninguna de esas cosas en el golf y tuve éxito haciéndolo de manera diferente. Y creo que eso es lo que la gente a veces ven y han gravitado hacia ello."

A pesar de la falta de forma y títulos, Woods es todavía la cara del golf en los EE.UU. En un estudio reciente, el 14 veces ganador fue reconocido por el 97% de los estadounidenses.

"I think it's just we've had so much success in the sport and I think it's in the way we've done it."

And Woods sees similarities between the effect Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo are having on football and how he changed golf.

"What Messi and Ronaldo are doing in soccer now is just phenomenal -- but in two different ways," explained the 39-year-old. "Two different ways of doing it, right?

"When I came into golf, I did it differently because no one had ever trained, no one ever lifted weights, no one ever ran miles, no one ever did wind sprints," he recalled.

"No one ever did any of those things in golf and I had success doing it differently. And I think that's what people sometimes see and have gravitated towards."

Despite the lack of form and titles, Woods is still the face of golf in the U.S. In a recent study, the 14-time major winner was recognized by 97% of Americans.

En agosto 2015 se llevó a cabo una encuesta sobre 1Golf.eu. Se pidió a los encuestados nombrar 3 campos favoritos en Europa. En total, 2.030 personas participaron. 84 por ciento de los encuestados eran de Alemania, Suiza y Austria. El 16 por ciento restante eran de 42 países diferentes.
