The end of 2024. 🍾

Cue the posts about resolutions, peoples highlight reels and curated for social media images.

Promises to start a “90 day hard”. 7 day detox. Juice cleanse. Keto. No sugar. Stop smoking. Read more. 🥗

I get it. I’ve been writing down my yearly goals for a LONG time (see attached photo). Sometimes I ✔️off most of them, sometimes the year had other plans.

I share this because sometimes clients are looking for the 💫magic solution💫 from coaches. I’ll tell you what the magic is…consistency. 🤫

The magic is also realizing that 💩 is inevitably going to come up causing you to miss a training day (or many), eat something you might not “normally eat”, sleep poorly, etc. How you are able to recover from this is what determines how successful you will be in maintaining the habit. The story you tell yourself about why it happened is often just as important. 📖

So, as you look forward to 2025, consider if the 90 day hard is moving you towards habits that are sustainable. If not, maybe consider starting SMALLER and then building on those wins once you have been consistent for a few weeks. 💪🏻

I’ll share a few of my 2025 goals with you:

💃🏼 Work with more women, LGBTQ, and neurodivergent humans.

💃🏼 Move more (🏋🏼‍♀️🧘🏼‍♀️🚶🏼‍♀️) for longevity.

💃🏼 Rest + Recover more regularly.

💃🏼 Continue exploring what it means to be my authentic self in this crazy 🌍.

Do you have some goals for the upcoming year? Research shows that sharing goals with others can increase chances of achieving them (sometimes by up to 65%). Share yours in the comments if you are comfortable 💫

Have a safe and Happy New Year. 🍾 I look forward to seeing you and working with many of you in 2025.

Nothing like a 3 hour exam to start your day, right? 🫠

I’m really excited to share I have obtained my Profesional Certified Coach (PCC) credential from the International Coaching Federation. The PCC credential requires a coach has completed 125+ hours of coaching education (I have significantly more 😊), 500+ hours of coaching experience, and 10+ hours of mentor coaching.

The final piece for me was the passing score on the credentialing exam. 💃🏼

I’m excited to have reached this milestone in my coaching career. Now I’m going to give my brain a much needed break from the screen for several hours.

Thanks to all the clients that contributed to those 500+ hours. Looking forward to what’s next. 🫶🏻

That new year feeling 🍊

It’s officially my first week back in the office after an amazing, long holiday break. I’ve just gotten myself a new 2024 planner, which is a tool I love using to help visually organize my days in addition to using digital tools.

One of my biggest takeaways from my time off was how incredibly necessary it was for me to continue to do the work I do. Living and working in the US I was never able to take the amount of time off that I did this past year. Looking back, I’m honestly wondering how I managed.

As someone who came to Spain last fall with the intention of learning “how” to rest and now having just taken three weeks off, I’m immensely proud of my growth in this area. Now it’s time to get back to coaching 💥

Welcome to 2024 all 🫶

Stress + Sleep 💤

It may surprise you to know that I suffered from insomnia for many years. The chronic kind. I remember as far back as my teenage years struggling mightily with falling asleep, staying asleep and overall feeling well rested. At some point I just thought it was how my life was going to be.

I was never a morning person as a result. Hard to pop out of bed when you’re chronically sleep deprived. Right? I often hit snooze, struggled getting myself to where I needed to be on time, which caused me a great deal of stress. 🥹

Looking back, it was at the times in my life where I was most chronically STRESSED that I struggled the most with sleep. I could have massively used the resources I now have regarding sleep and recovery.

This past week I had a major stressor occur on Sunday. If you look at the photo in this post, you can see my RHR is significantly higher that night. I love tracking RHR during sleep as a datapoint but also asking myself “how rested do I feel”? upon waking. Monday and Tuesday were challenging days for me. Mentally I can feel when I’m not at my best.

I took an intentional siesta Monday and Tuesday after client sessions. 20-30 minutes. Upon waking I always take Hess, my dog outside for a short walk. I do not find this impacts my evening sleep in any way.

I applied several of the strategies I never had back when I was a teenager struggling to fall asleep and stay asleep. Consistent bedtimes and wake times. An established “bedtime routine”. Magnesium supplementation and melatonin when needed.

So often when I work with clients on sleep issues we discover there is an underlying stressor that is aggravating the situation. I don’t have a magic wand 🪄 and I can’t make stress disappear. I can probably help improve your sleep.

Have you noticed a correlation between stress and sleep issues in your life? What are your “tricks” for falling asleep on stressful days? 💤

Welcome to Women’s History Month 👩🏼‍🏫

This month is always important for me to show up and post even if I’m swamped with work because it means a lot to me. The posts are always a bit personal and they take a bit longer to write as a result.

The theme for 2023 Women’s History Month is “Celebrating Women Who Tell Our Stories”. In the 2023 Women’s History Month logo, several notable women are featured, including novelists Toni Morrison, Maxine Hong Kingston, and Gertrude Stein, journalists and activists Jovita Idar and Marjory Stoneman Douglas, poet Maya Angelou, historian and author Gerda Lerner, and longtime National Park Service ranger Betty Soskin. ✍🏻

Growing up, I remember my Mom, who was an educator, encouraging me to read about strong female figures in history. I read about Florence Nightingale, Dolly Madison, Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Suzan B. Anthony.

These stories were instrumental in shaping how I viewed women and what they could accomplish. I SAW them achieving through often adverse circumstances. I was also very lucky to have my own strong role models in my Mom, and other close female relatives.

As an adult I continue to be so very grateful for the strong women in my life. The storytellers, coaches, friends and family. As we kick off this month dedicated to Women’s History, I celebrate all of you. Thank you for being part of my journey.

If you’ve read this far, I’d love to hear what Women’s History Month means to you. Who is a woman (or women) you admire and why? 👸🏽

I can’t wait for the next headshot 📸

I recently had the opportunity to update my headshot for Hintsa and had some startling takeaways after the completion that might be helpful to some of you. Especially those that have done some personal growth work or maybe have been considering it. Here are my takeaways from this little exercise.

I’ve consistently updated my headshot over the last several years as a business owner. I feel this is important as I’ve had some branding changes but also because I’ve personally grown, and so has the business. In my mind the headshot is an extension of that brand and growth.

Looking back at the previous headshots and reflecting on where I was, both physically (location) and mentally, it is fascinating to see the evolution in my body language. At the time, I “felt” confident. Comparing this most recent headshot to earlier versions is like night and day.

People often ask me why I love coaching, and I absolutely do love it. I often tell them about how rewarding it is to see people achieve goals, big or small. It’s amazing to see them decide to follow their purpose. It’s truly a gift to be able to hear people’s hopes and dreams.

Today, I physically witnessed on my own face, posture and self efficacy the impacts of coaching. This was obviously not a short journey and it’s far from over. It was a result of a series of small things done consistently. I am also grateful to be surrounded by other talented coaches and mentors.

If coaching is something you’ve considered, but weren’t sure about, whether due to time, expectations, etc…Whether you are an individual or representing a company. Send me a message. 📧

It’s been a big and busy few months for me 💃🏼.

Apologies for being a bit quiet here, and on my other socials in general but I was trying to practice what I preach. Being present, listening to what my mind and body needed, and really taking some time to relax. That last one is especially challenging for me but I’m learning!

I spent October and November in Valencia, Spain 🍊. I completely fell in love with the city, the people, the food and the more relaxed lifestyle. More on that in the coming months.

As I head into 2023 I feel refreshed, focused, and so peacefully “me” that I can’t help but be grateful for everyone and everything I encountered on my trip. Truly a gift.

I will continue to coach for Hintsa as well as a few other key client engagements. I will continue to work with a small number of my own private clients as well. If you are interested in discussing coaching for 2023, please send me a message or 📧([email protected]).

All the best in the upcoming year.

Happy Birthday to Me 🎂

Some people absolutely hate their birthday. Others celebrate for a week or month. I’m somewhere in the middle.

I get very self reflective on my birthday. How has the year gone? What went well? What didn’t go so well? What would I love to do more of? Next year at this time what do I want things to look like? 🤔

I’ve been really lucky to have friends and close connections from all over the world. Often my birthday is a great reminder of how much I love learning about other people and experiencing different cultures.

This year I’m giving myself the gift of travel. I have to wait a month but I’m really excited. More details to come.

I hope you have a fantastic weekend wherever in the world you are. What’s something you enjoy doing on your birthday? Do you have a tradition you celebrate each year? 🎂 Comment below!

Weekend Reflection 🧘🏼‍♀️

I’ve been pretty quiet on here as of late. My apologies for those who have messaged saying they missed my regular posts and content. As much as I really do enjoy writing, I love coaching more and have had an increasingly full schedule as of late. I will do my best to check in more, but it is a busy season for me.

What’s new? I’m currently packing. 📦 More on that at a later date.

I’ve just recovered from frozen shoulder 🥶 0/10. I would not recommend. If you’re unfamiliar, give it a quick google. I was lucky to have a fantastic PT Nicole that really helped me recover along with a 💉of cortisone.

I definitely learned a lot about how I handle chronic pain, my level of patience in dealing with things out of my control and how important it is to recognize when you need help. 🥺

I’ve also been learning to relax more. This is definitely a work in progress but after experiencing burnout (maybe twice or just never recovering from round one) I’ve made this a priority. Some weeks it feels like an extra part time job, some it feels pretty natural. I think most high performers can probably relate. We are great at being “on”. It’s switching “off” that is often a struggle.

I hope you have all been well. I’d love to hear how your summer has been going and what might be new. Comment below 🧘🏼‍♀️
