Hoy queremos felicitar por su 83 cumpleaños a Jose Antonio Verdeja Corral, una figura fundamental en la historia del buceo profesional en España.

Para muchos de los que hoy formamos parte de TECNOSUB, Verdeja fue nuestro primer instructor de buceo profesional. Pero además, durante décadas, formó a innumerables buzos españoles que hoy trabajan repartidos por todo el mundo, dejando una huella imborrable en varias generaciones de profesionales.

En una época en la que ni siquiera existía la palabra “influencer”, él ya lo era para muchos de nosotros. No por las redes sociales, sino por el ejemplo, la disciplina, la profesionalidad y la pasión por el buceo que transmitía en cada clase y en cada inmersión.

Gracias a personas como él, muchos pudimos convertir nuestra vocación en una forma de vida y dedicarnos a lo que realmente nos apasiona.

Today at TECNOSUB , we have successfully completed the qualification of a WPQR for underwater wet welding in accordance with EN ISO 15614-9:2025, in the 4F position and using a multi-pass welding procedure.

EN ISO 15614-9:2025 forms part of the ISO 15614 series governing the qualification of welding procedures through welding procedure tests. The standard establishes the essential variables, testing requirements, and qualification ranges necessary to validate a Welding Procedure Specification (WPS) under controlled and fully traceable technical conditions. Its application to underwater welding entails demanding qualification parameters due to the environmental and operational constraints inherent to wet welding processes.

In addition, nine commercial divers have been qualified under this approved procedure, ensuring consistency between procedure qualification (WPQR) and welder qualification requirements.

To the best of our knowledge, this constitutes the first underwater welding procedure qualified in Spain under EN ISO 15614-9:2025.

As the year draws to a close, we send our Christmas greetings to our clients, collaborators, friends, and above all to our own people and their families.

Christmas is a time to slow down, to give thanks, and to remember what really matters. Over the past year, we have shared hard work, long days and real trust. We are grateful for the people who stand with us, get the job done and look after one another when it counts.

At this time of year, we also think of those who are no longer with us. They are missed, they are remembered and they remain part of the story that brought us here.

We wish you a peaceful Christmas, a steady end to 2025 and a solid start to the year ahead. May 2026 bring fair weather when possible, strength when it is not and safe returns for all.
