Hi all,
As it has been a little while since we last updated here, we would like to provide an update on the status of the vessel and our current evaluation of repair.
The vessel was recovered as previously stated in our last update then transferred to the dockyard in Sotogrande port, there the local mechanics completed initial investigation and repairs to identify the cause of the flooding, however we have yet to concretely confirm the point of failure and how the vessel may have sank.
What we have established is that the vessel was last seen the night before it sank around 11pm and the following morning around 9am we were informed that the vessel had partially sank by persons in the port, which left a small window of time for the water to build up and the internal bilge would have reacted automatically to pump out the excess water from the hull.
As there was no major fault seen in the bilge system and other components in the vessel nor major damage to the hull, we have no way as of yet to know what caused the sinking.
Aside to this, we have been able to utilize the funds from this donation cause and cover recovery and repair costs which has been a huge help so we would like to deeply thank our supporters again.
A final note, we have been estimating costs to repair the vessel and the primary main costs predicted will be to rebuild/repair the engine and then replace all of the internal electrics and electronics.
Which the engine costs could range from 10,000 Euros up to 15,000 Euros, so we have taken the decision to cease repairs and to recoup any costs from the vessel if possible.
As it stands we have cased operations with our current vessel and we are looking at possible next step options.
Thank you again to all of the people that supported us now directly and indirectly and to all of our previous customers.
