A few months ago we had the pleasure of diving here in Los Gigantes with Carlisle & District Divers – BSAC Branch 2472.

They’re a very experienced group, so for me it was a breath of fresh air to get out of the office, join them for a few dives, and of course bring the GoPro along.

Unfortunately, I was using a brand-new camera and hadn’t set it up properly for filming on the boat, so I’m sorry guys – the surface shots are unusable. That said, there are some really lovely moments captured underwater, along with the highlights of what we saw on the dives.

It would be great to see you all again, and next time I promise I’ll have my GoPro settings dialled in!

Another year is almost over, and what a year it’s been!

You will notice some big changes at the dive centre. New windows and doors have been fitted to our 2 locals as well as a brand-new corridor ceiling, and upgraded the lighting. The finishing touch — a new corridor floor — will be laid after the New Year.

Since the creation of the protected zone along our coastline, we’re delighted to see an increasing number of endangered species on our dive sites. Be sure to check out the video below — the clips were taken just last week!

Huge congratulations to the awesome Moffatt family!

Caitlan, Matthew, and Kevin all smashed their Open Water Diver Course last week — what a team!
And a big shoutout to Mum, Alison, who was already a certified diver but jumped in to refresh her skills and get back into the bubbles.

Well done, everyone! We loved having you dive with us — hope to see you again on your next holiday (maybe for your Advanced Course)

Yesterday we were lucky enough to have a surprise encounter with an angel shark, and today the ocean gave us another suprise — a stunning bull ray!

These magnificent creatures share a similar shape to eagle rays, but are much larger, with striking stripes across their backs that make them instantly recognizable. Bull rays are powerful swimmers, often cruising close to the seafloor, and can reach wingspans of over 2 meters!

Fortunately, I had my camera with me and managed to get close enough to capture this incredible moment on film.

We had a wonderful surprise this morning at Punta Blanca — an Angel shark!
It’s super rare to spot them in September, since their season usually runs from November to March. This year was unusual though: we were lucky to see a few in June and July, none in August… and then, out of nowhere, today’s encounter.

At first, it was perfectly camouflaged, buried in the sand like the ambush predator it is. Then, clearly not too keen on our company, it swam off — leaving us absolutely amazed!

Exciting Updates from Los Gigantes Diving Centre!

As the year rushes to a close, we wanted to take a moment to share some updates with you. We've been closed for the past two weeks as our boat underwent essential maintenance, and we took the opportunity for a well-earned holiday to recharge.

November marks the start of the angel shark season—a truly magical time when these incredible creatures move into shallower waters for their breeding season. Before our break, we were lucky enough to spot several, and we've shared a video below to give you a glimpse of their beauty!

As we look ahead to the festive season, we want to wish you all a Merry Christmas and the very best for the New Year. We can't wait to welcome you back for some unforgettable diving adventures in the near future.

"☀️ August heat got you sweating? Dive into cooler waters with us! 🌊 With sea temps at a refreshing 23°C, there’s no better way to beat the heat than exploring the deep. 🐠

This month has been packed with incredible underwater moments, but the highlight? Watching our instructor Angela bond with a playful baby octopus! 🐙😍 You’ve got to see this! Check out the video below.

Exciting news from today’s dive trip! While our divers were exploring the vibrant underwater world, Chris, our skipper, had a surprise visit. A couple of terns decided to land on the boat! Chris kept perfectly still and quiet, and these beautiful birds stayed with him for about 10 minutes.

These terns migrate to the Canary Islands for nesting over the summer months, so we see them regularly, but it’s always a special treat. Our divers not only get to witness the amazing underwater life but also enjoy the wonders topside. Nature never ceases to amaze us!

🌊 Dive into Paradise at Los Gigantes! 🌞

We have flat calm seas and clear blue skies here in Los Gigantes, making it the perfect time to dive! The water temperature is currently 22°C and will rise to a warm 25°C by August. Our protected zone is flourishing with more fish life, bigger fish, and even sightings of endangered species.

Check out this short video showcasing the incredible marine life we've encountered over the past few weeks. We hope many of you will return to dive with us and once again enjoy the wonders of the deep. 🌊🐠
