It's world mental health day.
Lot's of people/coaches/personal trainers will post about this.
But not actually provide any actionable steps to improve your mental health.
Look I get it. It's complicated. But it's not getting any better is it, so here's a few frames for you.
1. If you frequently get cravings for junk food and also frequently experience low mood/depression then you almost certainly have poor gut health.
2. Fixing your gut health will be the biggest card you can play in fixing your mental health. It's an embodied brain. Body and brain are one.
3. The gut microbiome is known as the "second brain". It's just another way of saying that the brain is embodied and relies on the gut for proper function and vice versa. Its a 2 way street.
4. The epithelial layer of the gut lining is 1 cell thick. That's right. 1 layer of cells is the only thing between your body(including your brain) and the outside world. Food, stress, pollutants. There all much worse than they used to be. Hence the rise in mental health issues.
5. If it's not already obvious. It's really, really, really f**king important to have a proper functioning gut. It is not possible to have good mental health without a healthy gut.
6. Studies have shown time and time again that addicts and adhd populations have altered levels of chemicals and taxa in the gut. These populations for whatever reason, seem to be more vulnerable/susceptible to gut dysfunction and mental health issues
