The OSOG Crew were lucky enough to spend time with Doddie Weir during our campaign, albeit virtually. Even via Zoom, the infectious, inspirational personality that made him such a popular figure came through. Doddie undoubtedly leaves the world a better place for MND sufferers not only through the foundation, but also as an example of how to live a full life after such an awful diagnosis.

Our thoughts are with his family and those closest to him at this time.

We’re hearing a lot about “rowing through treacle” from this years fleet. Flat calm, still conditions sound great, but are hard work!

This video is from 18th Dec last year, about this time in our crossing. You’ll see that the flags are blowing towards the bow, showing the wind is helping us along and the rolling waves are nudging us in the right direction too.

We had our fair share of light winds towards the middle and end so feel the crews pain! Hopefully they can look forward to something like this further down the line!

A year ago today, the long walk down the pontoon before the marginally longer row across an ocean.

The first time the four of us have been together since Antigua! Thanks for an awesome night on Friday. Great to catch up and share stories with other crews! Good luck to all competing in .

Support from on land was huge boost on the crossing. and had the opportunity to head back to one of our charities, and thank the students for these pictures which provided a much needed boost on a long, hot day. Head to the link in our bio to read more.

Some of the crew were back HQ at the weekend to sort the boat ahead of her being shipped to her new owner 🥲. was reunited with the snapped centreboard he missed so much and was straight in the bow cabin!

She looked after us well and will always have a place in our hearts...but getting back in the cabins and once again having to unpack and re-pack were reminders of some parts of the campaign well miss less!

When we spoke to Doddie before we set off he told us how good the MacAskill trophy would look on his table next to the cup...we did our bit, over to to do theirs!

After a successful debut in Antigua their having us back on BBC Breakfast!
Tune into the sports report tomorrow at 0730 and 0930 to hear how things have been since the row as well as about and his record breaking crossing! Hopefully the boys will be looking slightly less tired than when we had to wake up at 2am the night after we arrived!
