**It is hard to believe! 💯**

Just **two weeks after registration opened**, we have already reached **100 participants for the Salou Open 2027!**

And today is only **17 August**, a date when normally we would not even have been ready to announce the next tournament yet.

Many people still don't have their holidays for 2027 confirmed. Some airlines haven't even started selling tickets for next summer.

And yet... **100 participants already!**

Normally, when we reach this milestone (around New Year), we proudly announce the name of participant number 100.
But this time we can't. 😉
Number 100 comes as part of **Team NL**, whose participation will certainly add something special to the tournament and bring the sporting level of Salou Open 2027 right to the **world top level**.

World-class draughts, combined with what Salou Open has always been about: a **friendly, cosy and comfortable tournament, full of fun, friendship, sun and sea**.

And there are still more than nine months to go!

28th International Open Draughts Tournament in SALOU, Spain,
22 May - 1 June 2027

We're excited to announce our 28th International Open Draughts Tournament in Salou, Spain!
The tournament dates are from Sunday, 23rd May to Monday, 31st May 2027.
The standard arrival date is 22nd May, and standard departure is 1st June.
The tournament will follow the Swiss system based on Solkoff, with 9 rounds in total.
We apply FMJD rules, and the time control will be 1 hour and 20 minutes per player plus 1 minute per move.

For almost 30 years, Salou has been a beloved meeting point in the draughts world.

Important Notes
In recent years, registrations exceeded our limit of 124 players, and we expect the same for 2027.
Latecomers risk ending up on a waiting list - register early!

Also, flight prices tend to increase significantly if booked too late, so don’t wait too long!

Despite global price increases, we've managed to keep our prices very low again this year.

🏆 SALOU OPEN 2026 HAS COME TO AN END! 🏆

What a wonderful edition it has been!

The 27th Salou Open brought together exactly the number of participants the organization had hoped for: **124 players from 18 countries**. Once again, Salou became the meeting place of the international draughts family.

The sporting level was exceptionally high. Top grandmasters occupied the highest places in the final standings, but the tournament was about much more than results alone. We welcomed many families and guests, and for many participants it felt like a reunion of friends and family members coming together from different parts of the world.

For ten days we enjoyed great weather, a friendly atmosphere, and countless memorable moments. The tournament produced many beautiful combinations and fighting games, showing once again why draughts is such a fascinating sport.

Above all, the atmosphere was fantastic. Players of all ages and levels shared the same playing hall, the same hotel, and the same passion. It was not only a tournament, but also a holiday and a celebration of friendship.

A big thank you to all players, guests, volunteers, arbiter, hotel staff, and everyone who helped make this event possible.
