Southsea are making preparations for our next surf of the wave!🌊🌊
With continued rapid growth in recent seasons and coming off a semifinal finish at BQC and best ever 21st place at EQCl, we're excited to share that we're actively recruiting to fill openings in our program for the upcoming Quadball season.
Here is our interest form: https://forms.gle/AkTH3VjqKcyrBZrj9
There are a lot of misconceptions- what is Southsea, and why do players continue to choose our program?
Southsea was founded on the idea that players in the Hampshire / Dorset / Greater south area were capable of competing at the highest levels of the sport. To achieve that goal, we focus on Coaching, Culture and Competition.
Competition
- By competing with teammates in practice, we push each other to achieve and sustain an elite level of play.
- By competing against the top opponents in the country, we challenge our group to come together as the best *team*.
Culture
- Nothing can be accomplished alone. We're all adults responsible for creating a fun, supportive, and inclusive environment our teammates want to be a part of. That is the standard.
- We all make sacrifices to be a part of the Southsea journey - time, money, blood, sweat, and tears - our players respect the sacrifice their teammates are making. The care we share for each other unites us through a season's most difficult moments.
- We value time outside of practice to spend and come together as not just players but friends.
Coaching
- While each player must ultimately take ownership over their own growth and journey, we have a dedicated staff of coaches excited to partner with players that are passionate about each of our players’ personal development.
"Don't you already have a team full of players?”
NO!, Southsea has never been a large squad and prides itself on coming together, to defy the odds. If you are in the mood for a true underdog story, this is the place for you.
Most players choose to join Southsea desiring to maximise their personal growth (being coached, opportunity to compete with top-level roster, etc). We do not wish to limit that opportunity.
"Don't you practice a lot? What if I'm busy and can't commit?"
Practice isn't required, but it also can't hurt. At the end of the season, our priority is creating the best team experience.
Our practices are well attended because they are extremely valuable. Each practice weekend is an opportunity to play against some of the best players in the country. Additionally, that's where you'll receive the most direct feedback from coaches and teammates, and thus where the most development occurs.
As a part of the conversations around joining, we discuss your expected commitment level and include that in our assessment of your perceived opportunity within our program, allowing you to make an informed decision.
"I'm not sure I'm good enough to join Southsea, or what my opportunity level would look like with Southsea?"
In preparation for each season, we talk with interested players to understand their objectives and priorities. At the start of the season, as a team we collectively set our goals for the season. Players then choose whether they'd prefer to join our program or an alternative option.
It's always worth engaging in the conversation and trying us out.
