The very gifted floral designer, Delyth Price, brought our Spring programme to a close on Thursday, 23 April with "Anything Goes". A very visual and inspirational artist and speaker, Delyth delighted her audience with her designs, her many educational tips, plus her interesting and varied stories. Thank you, Delyth.

We remind members that there is no demonstration in May ....instead, we are staging a fun-filled floral fundraiser luncheon at Victoria Station Restaurant in Parcent.

We meet again in the Salon de Actos, La Senieta, Moraira on Thursday 24 September, when we look forward to welcoming Jane Tully with "Inspired by Ceramics"

DEP Jose. Thank you for the many floral memories.

It is with immense sadness that we report the passing of José Allen, our Life-Vice President, at the age of 102. José was much loved throughout Sussex and was President of Henfield Flower Club which she founded in 1957. From 1976-1978 José became Area Chairman and was Area President from 1985-1987. José was also a founding member of New Visions in 1996.

José was appointed Assistant National Show Consultant in 1978, a National Associate of Honour and 2nd National Vice-Chairman in 1979. She became the first Sussex National Chairman in 1983. She was very much involved as a National Demonstrator, and in 1996 she served on the National Judging Committee.

When National Chairman, she organised the 25th Anniversary Conference for the National Association at Brighton in 1984. In 1986, when Area President, she organised the events celebrating Sussex Area’s Silver Jubilee.

José was a real character and such a lovely lady, and she will be greatly missed by all of us in Sussex and by very many people further afield, including internationally.

We will remember José with great fondness and affection.

We're Good to Go ......the stunning flowers have arrived and with the help of her handsome assistant, Alan, Christine has them all prepped ready for "D" Day (demonstration day).

Tomorrow Delyth arrives and Christine will prepare all the container's Delyth has chosen ready for her demonstration "Anything Goes" on Thursday.

Where Flowers Bloom so Does Hope

Delyth Price will be drawing our Spring Programme to a close with "ANYTHING GOES". The flowers have been ordered, the containers are all sorted, and Delyth arrives on Wednesday .....all you have to do is turn up and enjoy an afternoon of watching a professional floral artist custom-styling stunning arrangements for your enjoyment... at the end of the afternoon, some lucky folks will be leaving the theatre with one of the stunning exhibits.

Our ultimate demonstration before we break for the summer is on Thursday, 23 April, when Delyth Price will be paying a welcome return visit with “Anything Goes”. Delyth is a highly accredited International and National Demonstrator and National Judge based in Llanddeusant, Wales. A very keen competitor, she has won two Chelsea Gold Medals. She is also Area Chairman of the Three Counties and South Wales Area of NAFAS. Along with all her other flower-related commitments, Delyth helps run a busy farm with her husband and a Glamping Pod business.

Our demonstrations are held in the Salon de Actos, La Senieta, Moraira, and doors open at 2 pm, and we ask everyone to be seated by 2.45 pm. Entrance is 10€, and everyone is welcome.

Although this is our last floral demonstration until September, we have a social event on Thursday, 28 May, when we will be staging a “Fun Fund Raising Luncheon and Raffle” at Victoria Station, Parcent. All profits raised from this will go towards one of our chosen charities. The Luncheon is 30€ pp and includes a welcome glass of cava, a three-course luncheon, a half-bottle of wine or soft drink, and the tip. Victoria and her Staff always make us very welcome, and the meal is delicious. As always, there will be a quiz or two, and Christine is planning a little floral fun.

June Borrowdale made a very welcome return visit to our club on 26 March and once again captivated us with her creative and floral expertise. June, with her charming manner, sense of humour and engaging smile, kept us thoroughly entertained while creating some beautiful exhibits.

Before the demonstration started, on behalf of the Club, June graciously presented a cheque for 250€ to Protección Civil, Teulada/Moraira, to purchase necessary items for the ambulance. Much to the delight of Jesus, the Controller of Protección Civil, June made the presentation in Spanish, which received a warm round of applause from members. (The 250€ was from the raffle held at the Fun Fundraising Luncheon in May 2025 at Victoria Station Parcent. Victoria will be hosting a luncheon again this May, with profits once again going to one of the associations we support.

Diary Note: Our next demonstration is on Thursday, 23 April, when we look forward to welcoming Delyth Price. Delyth's visit will be short, flying in on Wednesday, demonstrating on Thursday, and flying back to Wales on Friday.

The flowers are on order, and we are eagerly awaiting June's demonstration, entitled "Floral Fusion" on Thursday, 26 March. A very talented demonstrator, with a warm sense of humour, it is bound to be a beautiful afternoon filled with vibrant and artistic exhibits.

We will also be presenting Protección Civil, Teulada/Moraira, with a cheque for 250€ to buy items for the ambulance.

Our next demonstration is on Thursday, 26 March, when June Borrowdale will be making a return visit to our club. A very talented lady, with a beautiful smile that lights up the stage, June is a NAFAS teacher, Area Demonstrator and North East Area Judge. June continues to develop her flower school in her village, as well as running workshops, day schools and one-to-one coaching sessions on specific aspects of floral design. She says she can’t wait to return to our beautiful part of the world and see us all again. Do come and join us, June has a lovely, warm personality, and is guaranteed to keep us entertained with her chat and knowledge of floral art. Her Demonstration is entitled “Floral Fusion”, and by the end of the demonstration, the stage will be a delight to the eye with all the glorious exhibits.

On that day, we will also be making a donation from monies raised at our Charity Fundraising Luncheon last year, to the ambulance service administered under the umbrella of The Protección Civil. Teulada/Moraira, to buy the necessary items for the ambulance or volunteers.

Our Demonstrations are held in The Salon de Actos, La Senieta, Moraira, and our doors open at 2 pm, and we request everyone be seated by 2.45 pm. Entrance 10€, plus 5€ admin fee for those not already registered. Our guest Demonstrator on Thursday was the delightful and bubbly Melanie Harris with the intriguing title of "Dig Beneath the Surface". We were curious about how her demonstration would unfold with such a title, but it did, and it was diverse and informative. Starting with beautiful white clouds and later diving down deep into the ocean, and everything in between! Melanie, who now lives in Cork, talked about her homeland, New Zealand, and even taught us some Maori ... Aotearoa, which is commonly translated as "land of the long white cloud". (still waiting to learn our score out of 10 on pronunciation!!). She brought cork bark to demonstrate the earth's different layers, from the crust to the mantle and the core. We learned that if you dug a hole through the center of the Earth from New Zealand, you would emerge in Spain . With her gentle manner, Melanie's demonstration gradually unfolded, and we were rewarded with some beautiful exhibits. Thank you, Melanie we had a great afternoon and we hope you will come back and demonstrate for us again. Hasta tu próxima visita, cuídate.
