Remember server & serving partner depend on each other & need to know and read each other’s shots!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

In the picture you see where the serving partner has to move according to his or her partners serve!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

BUT it’s not just on the serve on each shot your partner hits you have to calculate the depth , speed, spin etc & analyze what you as the partner can do with the shot that comes back from your opponent .. Stay or Poach

Tennis Doubles-Basic Plans For You And Your Partner.

Take The Net

This strategy is common among professional doubles tennis players like the Bryan Brothers. You often see points where both players end the point only a few feet away from the net.

If you can take over the net consistently in a doubles match, you will put pressure on your opponent. You can force them on their heels, and make them try to hit difficult low percentage shots. Volleys close to the net are usually easier shots as well, so you’ll win more points. You have better angles at the net, and you can smash the ball down into the court.

Thing to remember is-your volley might not be great BUT it might be better than your opponents ability to pass you.

If you think of the image below as a good representation of your partner and your sides of the court, then you’re doing it wrong. The centre line does not divide the doubles court! A more accurate representation of doubles court coverage is the image at the bottom using the green lines. You can think of the net player as controlling the airspace in their section of the court then they become a much greater threat to be involved in baseline exchanges.
Once you learn to cover the most traffic heavy areas of the doubles court, you will force your opponents to take more risks to beat you, and receive more free points from errors in return. Have fun improving your court coverage and your net play on the doubles court.
