Soft Soul Yoga

Soft Soul Yoga Marta is an inclusive yoga teacher that brings people together to create mindful moments on the mat. Marta attended her first yoga class in 2012.

It was a weekly highlight for a couple of months. She quickly fell in love with the discipline it required to perform the asanas, to be present with the breath and the mind. She absolutely enjoyed this total surrender and the blessed feeling after the practice, also the flexibility and strength that developed over time. After a whirlwind couple of years, stepping away from many people and things t

hat were dimming the light she had inside of her, she stepped on the mat again in 2018. This time, there was intention. Intention to keep coming back to it every day. Today, these mindful moments on the mat are a huge part of her identity. Yoga practice carried her through challenging moments and adventures, moving countries and countless houses, vanlife, living off-grid, cloudy and sunny days… also inside of her head. One thing was always the same: her time on the mat, the disconnection from
the world, to connect with herself. In 2021 she decided to expand her yoga journey and start sharing it with other people as a yoga teacher. In 2022 she stepped in Hot Yoga Altea to fulfill a dream of becoming a yoga teacher, to learn, bring her experience and empathy to the yoga studio setting and create beautiful connections with the students through the asana practice. Her favourite yoga style is hatha and yin, however she loves to explore more creative (flow) and vigorous practices (ashtanga).

For the past week my life was traveling back and forth previous home, new home, packing, unpacking and carrying things. Today, I ventured out into nature because my head was already getting cloudy from this whole process. But I have arrived. I am mostly unpacked. I’ll see my boo after another month apart. Life is good and I’m ready for creating new things, not only holding together what already exists. Having more space and dedicated office (for the first time in my life!) is encouraging to stir more ideas out. Exciting news to come (let me get it out here now: online yoga and more yoga in Pego!)

Summer work in the garden wrecks your body? Or, maybe the hot temperatures kept you bound to the fan and AC unit and not leaving the house much at all, so now you feel stiff and tense?
Yoga can help with neck, back, and joint pain in a few different ways.
First, yoga can help to improve flexibility in the muscles and joints. This can help to reduce pain and stiffness, and it can also help to improve range of motion.
Second, yoga can help to strengthen the muscles around the spine and joints. This can help to support the spine and joints, and it can also help to prevent further injury.
Third, yoga can help to work out the muscles tensed up by stress. Natural stress relief - students are astonished how calm and relaxed they are when the class is finished.

Yoga can be a great way to relieve pain and improve flexibility, but it is important to start slowly and listen to your body. Yin yoga is a great place to start.

My yoga journey began in 2012 in my university sports hall. We had to pick some sports activity we’ll do each semester and for a bit of extra fee you could pick more fancy sports like pilates, horse riding or yoga. To go to the horse riding place was about 2 hour drive for me, and as I was a time skint engineering student, that was out of the range. So I picked yoga as also that was something that was interesting to me. As many people start doing yoga, they go for the physical (asana) benefits, but as the classes were quite intense and very varied, at times, towards the end, I was experiencing this blissful moments of absolute nothingness, stillness. Our yoga teacher (bless her teaching 40-50 students on every class) was so kind and so involved to do something differently tasty every time. And I was always in the first row, first to reach out my arms to get them strapped together and enter some poses on a different level of intensity, always aiming for the gold and the fullest expression. Nearly a year ago I did my teacher training and I learn a lot about the anatomy, the philosophy, but most importantly how to respectfully guide people who have the best intentions to commit to growing their practice. Everyone was a beginner one day. I hope to ignite the love to yoga in some people, like my teacher did in me 🌸
