One of the strongest benefits martial arts practice teaches is the capability to commit. Conventional fitness programmes and training either focuses you towards short term goals or emphasises some form of competitive success.
Traditional martial arts training isn't short term. It follows a structure and developmental plan which provides progression, both for both the long and short term. However, true development lies in the long term path. Achieving belts and grades is a very simplistic, externally focused perception of the martial arts. The true development lies in the re-education of the self. Finding the path to growth and self development within, and focusing the physical training to allow for a greater understanding of ourselves emotionally, cognitively and spiritually. This just doesn't happen in a convential fitness environment. This doesn't happen outside of a committed approach, a long term focus and vision to embrace the deeper principles of the martial arts.
Psychological, cognitive and mental development is key to this success.
