🇪🇸🏸 WELCOME TO THE TEAM, JONHATTAN! 🏴
Badminton Scotland is delighted to announce the appointment of Jonhattan Martínez Maseda as our new National Junior Coach (NJC), another important step in the continued development of high-performance badminton in Scotland. 👏
Jonhattan joins Badminton Scotland with an extensive background in Spanish badminton. He has been Head Coach of the national programme at the Asturias Performance Centre and has led Badminton Oviedo in Spain’s top league, working with both international junior and senior players.
He also brings valuable experience as a representative for Spanish coaches on a number of committees, alongside a strong commitment to coach development, collaboration and building effective sporting structures.
📍 Based at the Sir Craig Reedie Centre, Jonhattan’s role will focus on strengthening Scotland’s Junior Pathway, creating closer links between the junior and senior programmes, and developing stronger working relationships between coaches and clubs.
National Head Coach Ingo Kindervater said:
💬 “He will fit in perfectly into our coaching team, and we have hired someone with exactly the right expertise and background for what we need in this position.”
Jonhattan is equally excited about the opportunity:
💬 “I want to build bridges between the senior squad and younger generations, while also coordinating new working strategies between coaches and clubs to support the development of the next generation of successful Scottish badminton players.”
