⛳ TOP TIP TUESDAY – FROM JIMMY⛳

🏌️‍♂️ MAR MENOR GOLF VILLAGE

The Stray Sod Golf Society is heading to Mar Menor this Friday, and Jimmy has the lowdown on what to expect!

Located around 35 minutes’ drive south of The Stray Sod Irish Bar, Mar Menor is a lovely course with a bit of everything. Tight and open fairways, flat and undulating greens, those dreaded sand traps, and a few water hazards to keep you honest! 💦🏖️

As we’re playing a Texas Scramble, I reckon you’re going to love this one! Plenty of opportunities to have a go, back up your teammates, and hopefully rack up a few birdies. 🐦

The greens are usually in excellent condition and putt well, provided you read them properly! The par 3s offer a good mix of long and short holes, but don’t be fooled — none of them are a gimme!

Overall, a great track to have some fun, enjoy the golf, and make the most of the occasion.

🍻 Jimmy’s top tips:

* Bring the b**rs!
* Have the shots ready for those birdies! 🥃
* Get your best poses ready for Sharon’s photos.

The facilities are excellent, with a driving range, putting green, and that all-important well-stocked clubhouse and restaurant. The staff are friendly and helpful too, so everything is in place for a great day out.

🔥 Top Tip Tuesday from Jimmy 🔥

📍 El Valle Golf

Part of the GNK group and designed by The Golden Bear, Jack Nicklaus. In my opinion, it’s one of the best desert-style courses in the area.

You’d better bring your bucket 🪣 and spade — there are plenty of sand traps scattered around the course! Greens are average in size, usually in good condition and rolling well, but not easy to read… double and even triple breakers are everywhere 😱🤔

All greens are well protected by cleverly positioned bunkers, so make sure you’ve been practicing with that sand iron 😂😂

As you leave the 16th green and spot the clubhouse in the distance, your mind might drift to that cold b**r 🍻… but don’t switch off just yet. The water hazards around the 17th green and 18th tee quickly demand your full attention. Have you lost focus, or have you got one final push in you?

Fairways are generally quite wide, so the occasional wayward drive can still stay safe. Par 3s tend to be medium to long in length.

Great facilities in and around the clubhouse, with friendly staff always on hand to help.

⛳️ Tip: Stay focused right to the end — this course will punish you if you switch off too early!
