🧐Te contamos algunas curiosidades de Paul Caffyn, uno de los mejores piragüistas de la historia:
🗓 Nació en 1946.
🏞 Se inició en el piragüismo en el río Brisbane, Australia, a los nueve años. Pero no fue hasta los 31 años cuando se tomó en serio el kayak de mar.
🚣♀️ El reto con el que despertó su curiosidad y la búsqueda de nuevos retos fue el que hizo en 1977 con su amigo Max Reynolds, navegaron juntos durante 27 días. Paul continuó solo durante otros 49 días por el resto de la Isla Sur.
🚣♀️ El verano siguiente rodeó navegando la Isla Norte de Nueva Zelanda en 86 días.
🚣 En 1979, Paul y Reynolds se unieron nuevamente, para cruzar los 40 km del estrecho de Foveaux. Luego completaron la circunnavegación en la isla Stewart, la más pequeña y meridional de Nueva Zelanda. Con este reto Paul Caffyn fue la primera persona en dar la vuelta a Nueva Zelanda en kayak.
🚣♀️ Ya en la dinámica de acometer un reto anual, en 1980 realizó la vuelta a Gran Bretaña junto a Nigel Dennis. Este reto conjunto de 3.500 km. se realizó en 85 días.

🗓 He was born in 1946.
🏞 He started canoeing on the Brisbane River, Australia, at the age of nine. But it wasn't until he was 31 that he took up sea kayaking seriously.
🚣 The challenge that sparked his curiosity and quest for new challenges was the one he did in 1977 with his friend Max Reynolds, they sailed together for 27 days. Paul continued alone for another 49 days around the rest of the South Island.
🚣 The following summer he circumnavigated the North Island of New Zealand in 86 days.
🚣 In 1979, Paul and Reynolds teamed up again, to cross the 40 km Foveaux Strait. They then completed the circumnavigation of Stewart Island, New Zealand's smallest and southernmost island. With this challenge Paul Caffyn became the first person to circumnavigate New Zealand by kayak.
🚣 Already in the dynamic of undertaking an annual challenge, in 1980 he completed the circumnavigation of Great Britain together with Nigel Dennis. This joint challenge of 3,500 km was completed in 85 days.
