💥FISH OF A LIFETIME💥

We left the harbour with the incoming light. Miquel and his friends joined us for the first time since we decided to start a collaboration.

The plan was to look for activity on the top, but after a change in weather, things were very calm and we decided to aim for big leerfish on the troll.

Two days ago the leers were all over the place, today was a completely different story. Plenty of bird activity, loads of bait around, but no leerfish to be seen.

Just after lunch when we were about to give up and head back, the bite came. A gentle one, we even thought it came off for a second, followed by a long run. A heavy, deep fight, with a lot of weight involved, already gave away that this was most likely not a monster leerfish.

After a good half hour, she finally showed herself on the surface. The copper shimmer on the cheek. The brown glow on her back. The dark stripe on her face. Yep. A huge f*cking amberjack.

Four rods, four anglers - almost ten Tunnies inside the hour.

They came up in walls, and stayed up. Top spinning rods from , quality stickbaits from Pelagus 120S and 140S, fish on as fast as we could cast back. Every single one, carefully released back into the deep blue.

Smiles and high fives on deck all day - this is why we do it.

They showed at the surface, took the Pelagus 120S clean and turned the rod into a question mark. Quick, bright fights in clear water off L'Hospitalet — the kind of session that keeps you working the spread long after your arms have had enough.

Cold, crisp and rewarding — buffs up, gloves on, both rods working before the haze burned off.

This is the part the photos usually skip: the waiting, the cold hands, the watching. Then the rod loads up and none of it matters. Fish boatside, quick photo, released clean.

Offshore from L'Hospitalet, last light, flat water. Bluefin don't come easy out here — you earn every meter of line back, then you earn the photo. Boatside, unhooked, back to the blue.

She surfaced at first light and didn’t look twice at the boat. We stopped the drift and watched her go.

The birds started working a few minutes later. The fish were already on them. Two strikes, one landed and released. Silver over green water, braid wet with salt, fog that never lifted.

The sea introduces itself in its own order. We just show up.
L’Hospitalet. Offshore. April.

Every trip, fish to the boat before noon. Heavy tackle, surface strikes,
