Sharing this interesting info, Pilates is really helpful if you are suffering....
Did you know that women Over 50 are more likely to develop Frozen Shoulder, and that while frozen shoulder can affect anyone, women are affected far more frequently than men, particularly during the menopausal years.
One of the main reasons may be the decline in oestrogen.
As oestrogen levels fall during perimenopause and menopause, changes occur throughout the musculoskeletal system.

Many women notice:
Increased joint aches and pains
Morning stiffness
Reduced flexibility
Slower recovery after exercise
Tendon issues
Shoulder, hip and knee discomfort

The Menopause and Collagen Connection
Collagen is the most abundant protein in the body and provides strength and elasticity to our connective tissues.
During the first five years after menopause, women can lose up to 30% of their collagen.
This can lead to the shoulder capsule becoming more vulnerable to inflammation, thickening and stiffness, increasing the likelihood of frozen shoulder developing.

Signs and Symptoms include:
Shoulder pain, especially at night
Difficulty sleeping on the affected side
Loss of shoulder mobility
Difficulty reaching overhead
Problems reaching behind the back
Pain when dressing
Difficulty lifting weights overhead

Fitness Pilates Exercises can help!
The goal is to keep the shoulder moving without forcing movement into pain.
A good rule is that movement should feel gentle and therapeutic, not painful.
Movement is medicine, but with frozen shoulder, gentle and consistent movement is far more effective than pushing through pain.

Happy Sunday to you all! How hot is it??? It's a bit of a shock after being in a cold place for the last few days....I'm looking forwards to seeing you all again in class, we will be easing ourselves back into it gently🤣I've walked about 500 miles but must confess to not not getting many full gym workouts in...So, here we go...the classes coming up next week:-

Thinking about our bones today.... Many people think about muscles, weight loss, or flexibility but rarely think about the strength of the skeleton that supports everything else.
As we age, bone tissue naturally changes. For some people, especially after midlife, bone mineral density can decline more rapidly. This may lead to osteopenia or osteoporosis, increasing fracture risk. The encouraging news is that bones are living tissue. They respond to load, movement, and lifestyle habits.

Where does Pilates fit in? Pilates can be extremely useful, particularly for posture, balance, coordination, spinal support, mobility, and confidence in movement. These qualities matter greatly because falls are a major cause of fractures. Pilates can help people move better, stand taller, and feel safer in their bodies.
The message after 50, and frankly before 50 too, is simple. Do not wait for weakness to announce itself. Build strength now. Move regularly. Add load intelligently. Improve balance. Use Pilates wisely.
Sunday reminder: your bones are listening to how you live. Give them a reason to stay strong.

Things I learnt the hard way this week!
🦶 Pain in the ball of your foot?
Feels like you’re walking on a pebble under your 2nd toe?

It could be something called plantar plate strain or predislocation syndrome — and it’s more common than you think, especially in active women and as we get older.

👉 What’s happening?
The small ligament under your toe (the “plantar plate”) starts to weaken and stretch, making the toe unstable.

👉 Early warning signs:
✔️ Pain under the ball of the foot
✔️ Swelling or tenderness
✔️ A toe that looks like it’s starting to lift or drift
✔️ That “bunched sock / pebble” feeling

👉 Why it matters:
If ignored, the toe can actually start to move out of place over time.

BUT — catch it early and it’s very manageable 💪

👉 Simple things that help:
✔️ Supportive trainers (ditch flimsy shoes)
✔️ Foot strengthening exercises
✔️ Metatarsal support (placed correctly!)
✔️ Reducing impact temporarily

🚫 What makes it worse:
Barefoot on hard floors
Flip flops
High heels
Pushing through pain
