Here we have the lovely 68 (and a 1/2!) yo Lorraine running through her kettlebell workout. Lorraine has been a client for nearly 5 years, to begin with in Warminster and via WhatsApp since Feb last year. She has 2 sessions a week.
I have shared Lorraine’s story before but about 3 years before we met she suffered a catastrophic head injury. She had to learn to walk and talk again. In the last 2 years she has suffered some other health issues but always shows up and I just adjust her workout to suit. Yesterday she was suffering from a cough/cold but still bashed out her workout 💪💪
Here she is performing 3 sets of 12. Where a client is restricted on progression due to their equipment I give them a more challenging version of an exercise.
Kettlebell swing 14k
Off set squat 6k 8 each side. This squat creates an asymmetrical load challenging the hips, core and stabilising muscles.
Deficit deadlift 14k. Creates a greater range of movement.
Chest press 2 odd 6k’s!
Bent over row
Upright row (avoid with rotator cuff issues)
Alternating overhead press 8 each side
Bicep curls 5k
KB around the world (core) 10k
ALL of my clients perform standard strength exercises that are appropriate for their age/stage. There are no ‘special’ over 60’s/70’s workout!!
My clients are encouraged to complete their cardio outside of their sessions so that we can focus on strength.
Lorraine is a fantastic example of how to overcome life’s challenges!! 💚💚
