Trails of the Alhambra

Trails of the Alhambra Authentic off‑road riding in southern Spain. Gravel, MTB, and adventure routes designed by locals who know every climb, every vista, all the best tapas stops.

Write your own "tale of the Alhambra" where dirt and soaring elevations combine to create the suffering necessary to craft a narrative spiked by ethereal views, plunging descents, and solitary corridors that lace the former Alhambra kingdom.

The last time we checked, Spain had 9,000+ kilometers (almost 5600 miles) of gravel roads, which lace the Iberian Peninsula from the French border to Portugal's Atlantic coast. If you start from Granada, we'd guess that you can access most of these gravel roads by stitching them together as you go.
Better yet, make Granada your base and you can ride literal circles around the city without much overlap.
Take these three rides, for example, which start and finish in Granada and will have you back in the city in time for a Spanish lunch.

The gravel loops start and finish in Granada and feature buttery valley rides, bracing climbs, and suffer-worthy views. Go long; here's how.

What's the 360º view like from the Alhambra? It's like a telenovela. There's Catholic drama, Moorish flair, valley vibes, and then BAM! You stumble upon this literal piece of (formerly elite) paradise behind the palace and its surroundings. This week's hike is like last week's, but with a little more climbing. Of course it ends with a tapa and a drink at one of our fave tapas joint because...priorities! 🤣

Lace up your hiking shoes and visit some of Granada's lesser-known sites without leaving the city limits. If you've got an hour or two to spare, one of these local hikes are just the thing to make a quick break for nature. Better yet, bring some loose change for a post-hike beverage and snack because the venerated tapa is still tradition in the capital city.

The Alhambra is just the start! Discover short hikes, hidden history, and local stories to enrich your visit beyond Granada's iconic palace.

We’re planning on a few more recon rides into northern Morocco in the coming months and may be looking for some fellow scouts. Stay close FMI

Hello old friend, it’s been a while – let’s go have some fun this spring 🧚🏼‍♂️

There's a reason why Granada is Spain's stealth cycling destination: there's epic ride year-round riding that's mostly unspoiled by traffic.

This image was taken at the Quéntar reservoir just up the road from Granada. From here you can go up, up, up or just casually roll back down and do a flat spin upriver (or down). You've got options, come check them out!

Last weekend in Morocco 🇲🇦 was for route reconnaissance for a future bike tour in the north (spring 2026). Some beach time should also be on the sched, don’t you think?
