“Tinker Juarez was racing for Volvo/Cannondale when I shot this photo of him at Mt. Snow, Vermont, in August of 2001. It was the final NORBA National Championship XC series for that year, and Tinker ended up being the top American finisher in the race.” -

At this point, Tinker had long been one of the top XC racers in the States and had won the NORBA overall XC title in 1994, 1995, and 1998, along with a gold medal 🥇 at the 1995 Pan Am Games. He’s still going strong today at the age of 63, giving him one of the longest professional cycling careers in history 🏆

MSA World Cup🇨🇦. That was epic💩 A breakthrough and a heartbreak at the same time for me.

I started P.62, and within five minutes I was up to 26th, after two laps I was up to 19th. No doubt I was tracking towards a career best result, but unfortunately around lap three I started dropping my chain frequently. Turns out one of my frame bolts snapped and fell out, causing my rear end to become loose and throw off the chain line. After a dozen chain drops I fell to P.52 in the end, a really disappointing finish to one of my best efforts and best legs this season. Despite the ending, I saw the front of an elite World Cup for the first time, and found myself riding with some 🐐’s of the sport, so overall it was still a great way to end the season.

I’m pretty hungry after this one, so I won’t be a calling it a season just yet. Little reset this week, and then stoked for some CX racing this fall. Thanks a lot to my family and everyone in my corner for supporting me at these final World Cups🙏
