When Nick Thompson agreed to race on the Factor ONE SP at the Ironman 70.3 World Championships in Nice, he was so impressed with the way the bike could hold its speed that he decided to take the plunge and use it for his whack at the big daddy of them all, Ironman World Championships in Kona. And his choice proved sound since he posted the third best bike split of anyone who finished the event, on his way to taking an impressive 11th overall.

Few victories are more important than a world title. And in cycling, when you are world champion, you have the honour of wearing the rainbow jersey for the next year. It’s career defining and also reflects glory equally on the team behind you and the equipment you use.

Magnus Bak’s victory on Sunday in Nannup on the Factor ELARA proved to be the highlight of the long Aussie weekend for Factor, but the story goes much deeper, since it was an optimum opportunity to build community and deepen our ties with our athletes, fans, and fellow racers. A perfect illustration of what makes gravel racing so special. And now we can all look forward to seeing how great the ELARA will look in rainbow stripes next season.

Congratulations to Magnus Bak Klaris, who claimed the rainbow jersey at the UCI 2026 Gravel World Championships racing for Denmark aboard his Factor ELARA.

In its fifth year, the UCI 2026 Gravel World Championships moved outside Europe for the first time, taking place over the weekend in Nannup, Western Australia. The men’s course on Sunday consisted of 144 km and featured 3,713 meters of elevation gain. And for the first time, the vast majority of the race, around 85% of it, took place on unpaved or gravel roads. A real gravel race.

Magnus rode tactically astute with magical legs. Hard work, the ability to read the race, and the initiative to make the most of the opportunity.

Factor Racing heads to the 2026 UCI Gravel World Championships in Nannup with six athletes, a season of major victories behind them and one bike at the heart of it all: the Factor ELARA.

Haley Hunter 🇨🇦
Winner of The Rift and runner-up Absa Cape Epic in 2026, Haley Hunter brings a formidable mix of off-road skills, endurance, and resilience to Nannup. Thoughtful and analytical in her approach, the Canadian Olympian and current MTB National Champion, is at her best when the racing gets long and demanding. Her second place at Cape Epic, where she and fellow Factor athlete, Hayley Preen, steadily climbed the standings across eight days of racing, underlined both her consistency and ability to perform on the biggest stages.

Jonas Lindberg 🇩🇰
Twice a UCI Gravel World Series winner in 2026 at 3RIDES Gravel Winterberg and Gravel Tour Hlinsko, Jonas Lindberg is a racer in the purest sense: aggressive, instinctive and happiest when the racing gets hard. A former professional mountain biker who rediscovered competition through the freedom of gravel, the Dane has taken victories at the highest level. His two UCI Gravel World Series wins in 2026 underline just how dangerous Jonas can be when the opportunity presents itself.

Winner of the 2025 Gravel Earth Series overall and The Rift, Magnus Bak Klaris has established himself as one of the most respected racers in the gravel scene. In 2026, his consistency across gravel and road culminated in a commanding solo victory at Gravel Grit ’n Grind, sending him to Nannup with form and confidence.

There is only so much you can learn from numbers. CFD tells us where to look, the wind tunnel tells us whether we are right, and controlled testing allows us to measure the differences. But eventually you have to put your design to the test. A real test. You have to have athletes with numbers on their backs compete on courses that refuse to behave like a laboratory.

Ahead of the ONE SP launch, we had several of our athletes across multiple high profile stages, testing this new expression of the dynamic platform. That started with the ONE. Whether at the Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift, the Ironman 70.3 World Championships in Nice, and even the UCI Time Trial World Championships in Montreal, many of our athletes put the ONE SP to the test, and found the combination of agility and aerodynamic efficiency profoundly impressive.

The launch of the ELARA completes the Factor gravel range as much as it complements the attributes of the other two members of the lineup, the SARANA and the ALUTO. Consisting of three specialist race platforms, the ELARA has been designed for Race Speed, ALUTO for Race Balance, and SARANA for Race Endurance. Each exists to answer a different performance question as gravel racing has evolved into increasingly specialised forms of competition.

The IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship is in Nice tomorrow.

Factor will be there with Nick Thompson, Simon Westermann, Jens Emil and Alex Caille, who have been racing at the front all year on the SLiCK. Earlier this summer we caught up with Nick in Girona during a training block. Putting in the hours, refining the position, breaking his collarbone (he’s okay now), and getting ready for what was ahead.

Ironman Nice is a particular kind of race. More climbing, fast, technical descents, a course where weight, handling and outright speed all matter. We studied the course, spoke to the riders and looked closely at what the race actually demands. Then we developed something for it.

Not something new for the sake of it. A solution to a specific problem, built around the athletes who will race it.

You might have already spotted it. Tomorrow, it races.
