THE MAGIC OF KITESURF HQ
Hey, my name is Bruce and I'd like to welcome you to Kitesurf HQ - Thanks for dropping by! As an avid skier, surfer, wakeboarder & kitesurfer, I live by weather patterns, swell chart and weather forecasts. This, alongside my sporting passions, sparked my fascination with all things ocean & atmosphere. I hold degrees in Oceanography & Meteorology, enabling me to truly 'rea
d' the conditions (not just from charts, but insitu too), which help me to squeeze every last drop of enjoyment out of my sports. My need for the ocean is deeply engrained, leading me to emigrate from the UK to the Canary Islands & I'm now truly stoked to for the opportunity to be able to share one of my passions with you! Kitesurf HQ is my home for 6 months of the year and I'm offering you the opportunity to stay with me this summer and benefit from my extensive local kitesurfing knowledge! You see, I understand what it's like to have a passion but no-one to share it with. Perhaps your regular kiting buddies are too busy to join you on your trip, or your partner doesn't kite and you don't want to risk all the dangers that a new spot can throw at you, especially alone in a foreign country. Only 4 hours flying time from the UK, Fuerteventura is blessed with consistent trade winds & warm weather, not to mention the balmy water temperatures! We have everything here from flat water to playful waves, to stoke-inducing, barreling reef breaks! Throughout my extensive global travels, it's one of the most reliably consistent & friendly places I've visited. I no longer need to gamble on the conditions when booking a trip, worrying about not knowing the spots or who to ride with! In the 17 years that I've been surfing and kiting here, I've made many friends with whom I've had untold amounts of fun, shredding these incredibly warm and inviting, azure waters! That being said, kiting on 'Fuerte' isn't without its dangers. Having an experienced & qualified local kite buddy can mean all the difference between a gusty, choppy, stressful and potentially dangerous session and the exhilaration that this awesome sport is all about. The volcanic rocks and 'caracoles' here can be super-sharp and super-dangerous, if you don't know what you're doing or where they are...even simply entering and exiting the water can be treacherous without a little local knowledge! Then again, some spots can have zero wind whilst others, not so far away, are nuking & it often takes a local to know exactly where to get the most out of the day's conditions. As someone who's kited here for so long, I can take all the guesswork out of it for you, leaving you to enjoy what you've come for; EPIC KITESURFING! Stay stoked!
